got to ride my 07 m1000 yesterday:D what a gas sucking pig:eek: went around 65 miles and used up around 18 gallons of fuel. sound right? i was just wondering how much fuel you guys are using?

i don't know, if your riding 3 feet of fresh pow breaking trial all day you could easily go through a tank in 40-50 miles, although the odometer would probably read at least twice as many miles as you actually went...

Even if you were breaking trail in 3ft. of powder you shouldn't be burning that much fuel. First thing id do is check for leaks in the line

a leak was the first thing i thought of. i dont see any leaks or smell any fuel. any other ideas of what might make it eat fuel?

How much did the other sleds you were with use?

my buddies 01 ski dont 800 used probably around 10 to 12 gal

Ya, your runnin rich. The worst I've done was 5.5 mpg playing hard. But about the same as the other sleds I was with.

Your not in limp mode are you?

I've got a m1000 and I sure didn't buy it for fuel mileage. How'd it run out? If we are all paling the same, I will use more then the rest but not that much.

i started out full got back to the truck for lunch rode like 30-35miles had to put in 7-8 gal to fill it up. rode another 30 some miles after lunch and the tank looks as low as it was for lunch. it ran great no ck engine light plenty of power. i knew it wasnt goin to get great fuel milage but, wow didnt expect that bad fuel milage. it fits right in with the rest of my other gas guzzling fleet:D

You've probably already checked, but make sure the o-rings on the fuel pump are not leaking gas out of the tank. They won't leak until the tank is about 2/3 full. The gas drains down the front of the tank and out the back of the belly pan. You'd never notice it if you were riding when it happened.

Wow somethings wrong. I use a little more then the M8's & D8 that I ride with.........But not much more.

What is your fuel rail PSI, and what are your hi bd box numbers??

That will give us an idea if it has something to do with settings or if something is way off otherwise.

Some people have OUTRAGEOUS bd box numbers, not sure why they need that much fuel, but seems to me like something is wrong with the setup on those sleds.

I asked before, but never got an answer, who built it & who's was it?
That also may help, as one of us may know the sled. There's not that many of those around here.

it was dave wilkison's sled. eric at alpine motorsports in kremmling built it. not so sure on the bd box #'s ill have to look at them and get back with ya

if it worth anything, I have the same sled. And my BD numbers are pretty high at high throttle settings. Might have something to do with the head. also mine has two maps in it. Eric put one in for break-in that is richer, and then a leaner one for more perofrmance and post break-in. Just out of curiosity, where did you find enough snow?
