Im am having issues with my 2008 RMK 700. Can anyone help?

Last week I re-built my top end my. brother took it out to ride.....1.Sled wont Idle I have to hold the throttle a little........parking lot, sled started puttering like a fould plug......put new plugs in BPR9ES rode about 5 Miles went to held up a hill. Brrbrbrbrbrbrbrb puttered out again. Replaced the plugs with some from a buddies Pro not sure what they where. Sled ran great all the way back to the truck. That day brother took it up above my house rode for about an hour in deep snow laboring the sled. Ran great....he took it back up the next day said. It ran awesome in the deep snow all morning. Till about 500 yards to the truck. Then it started puttering again like its loading up. Looking at all the plugs only the mag side is looking very wet like it is not burning on all three sets of plugs. Where should I start??????

Run the Champion RN57YCC plugs, work best on that engine. Did you seal up around the headlight? Sucking in snow? Adjust your throttle cable a bit and see how it acts...

I have the champions, light adj. covered and it is still doing it. Anyone else ???????? I head it could be The EGT sens. but not sure. also the reeds. also blow by.

It is crucial that you seal up not only the adjuster, but also around the head light, and any other places in the hood you can find. If it is sucking snow, you should be able to see it in the bottom of the air box, and in the plastic cone that feeds the air box. Seal up the headlight and else wear regardless.

Also, I don't know much about this problem, but I have heard allot about the ecu not being grounded well. Try running additional grounds. Also you're tps may not be set right?

1) If the fuel is not fresh, pump ALL of it out and pour it into your daily driver, install fresh fuel from a clean jug

2) Install new fuel filter if you haven't done so in a while

3) Check exhaust valves for TORN rubber exhaust bellows

4) Plug wire boots may need to be replaced

5) Did you inspect the reeds????

6) TORN rubber throttle body boots. You have to TWIST them and inspect them with a light CLOSELY to see the rips/tears

7) Check the compression (I realize you just installed new pistons & rings)

You didn't mention why you rebuilt it? Why & what were the problems before the rebuild?

i have encountered the same problem. Running a fresh top end this year. Rebuilt because PTO cylinder was weak. Well they both were but PTO especially. New top end, New bellows in exhaust valves, TPS set, Adjusted throttle cable after first fire up. The butterfly's were being held slightly open and didn't catch it. It runs good for about 20 mins/miles whichever comes first. Also on the Mag side. I have noticed the sled doesn't warm up much over 125 degrees but with a 120 degree thermostat i think that would be ok. Also injectors have been off to witch hunter and all tested good. I too am at a loss. My next guess is possibly its got a fuel map for a different elevation, or possibly mods that have since been removed by original owner. It doesn't have a programmer on it so i don't know. Mine also seems to be mag side. possible coil?

I've had 1 coil go bad in 27+ years of ridin' & wrenching, so it's possible but not likely. Is there another sled available to "borrow" a coil from, or do you want to try swapping coils side/side ?

Engine temp is fine

Fuel??? Did you pump out all the old stuff??

This is all fresh fuel. My guess is to swap side to side and see if problem persists with coil or cylinder. Compression checks fine but again, I am about out of ideas here.

I just had tri city one of the best shops in utah go through it. they found my mag cyl, was @ 108 so I rebuilt the top end....replaced the bellows other than that nota. it was run for 4 hours the other day by my brother....hard... in deep snow climbing and again on the trail out it started doing it again.. It could very possibly be reeds. I also am doing a comp test today.
