front suspension bolting location Pro RMK vs Assault RMK

I have the '12 Pro 155, my son the '12 RMK 155 Assault. We know the obviuos differences but do you think we should drill out and mount the front of the rear suspension the same as the Pro?

There are a lot of opinions on that.

The front suspension on the Assault rides higher than the RMK... The rear skid is the same...but also mounts lower... drop the front hole to the "RMK position" and you will change the steering effort...

Some say it is ok others say that they do not like the increased steering effort.

The main advantage is slightly better attack angle... the con is that some of the bump absorbing character is changed when you do this.

The rear brackets are in the same position.

Try it... It cant hurt.

Also... NEVER run the PRO/Std-RMK rails in the lower "Assault position"... you could have stabbing issues with rail/track-window.

I also have a 12 Assault with the Pro track and I did drill out and put the suspension in the Pro location. The main reason I did this is the sled was lifting the front end out of the snow so much that it was hard to control in the trees.

I also loosened my front shock and tightened my rear at the same time and now I have a sled that keeps the front end down while boondocking and a better suspension to go along with it. It made the control much more predictable then before and I can give the sled the goose and the front stays down, hope this helps ya some.

it helps on the assault to move the suspension up. Keeps the front end down when climbing and it floats alot better in the deep. You can feal it grab better when climbing up rough mogled out hills. It doesn't handle big jumps as well. Haven't got it quite set up for that yet. I don't know why, but it bottoms out alot easier now.
