Free Fuel!

you think he would put ya you can drink it on the add??? you cant legally sell moonshine. the way he's got the add, he's not "intending" on selling it as moonshine. i bet its drinkable. cause he says 100%. he hasnt added any fuel to it.

I just did a HS project on this. E-85, fed it right through a B&S lawn mower engine with only an adjustment on the A/F meter. Ran great! Smelled like chocolate when it ran, kinda cool. The other sweet thing is that E-85 has 105 octane rating, so the boost guys are running it, and ethanol has a VERY cool intake charge temp, not near the heat build-up as a strait gasoline, of course, the cooler the more charge! Ethanol doesn't have the BTU rating of gasoline, so you have to jet up, fuel milage is decreased by like 20%, but it is quite a bit cheaper than gasoline, but these are all E-85 numbers.

That e 85 is a joke! in MN it,s only 40 cents cheaper. it would have to be 65 cents cheaper to even break even. you don't get the fuel milage with e85

You don't get the fuel milage with it, but it is closest thing to racegas you can get out of a pump! Its opened up a whole new level of high comp. and boosted street motors with its high octane and lower intake temps. Check out all the E-85 street cars in Car Craft, anywhere from 13:1 smallblocks to twin turboed, 1,200 hp big blocks! Me likey.

there is a gas station here in iowa selling e-85 for under 2 dollars a gallon. seems like a hell of a saving to me.the only advantage of living in iowa.lol

Geographically, it can be a good deal. Other areas the price difference seems too small to make it worthwhile financially.

I get a kick out of the fools who would rather bash an American ag-based product than understand how important it is that we do everything we can to alleviate our vulerability to foreign oil dependance.

There are some real dummers out there.

Thing about E85 that makes me laugh... look at the fuel cost vs. the power lost by running it, it's actually more expensive to use e85 in FFV's than regular gasoline.

Our local prices..............
Regular fuel $3.49
E-85 $2.61

That's over 25% less
Simple math....if your vehicle gets 20 mpg on reg and 15 mpg on E-85 it's a wash. Plus it's a cleaner, higher quality fuel. Plus you are supporting our domestic economy. Plus you are doing your part in helping lessen our dependance on foreign oil.

These companies import Middle Eastern oil:

Shell
Chevron/Texaco
Exxon /Mobil
Marathon/Speedway
Amoco

Citgo gas is from South America, from a Dictator who hates Americans.

Here are some large companies that do not import Middle Eastern oil:

Sunoco
Conoco
Sinclair
B P/Phillips
Hess
ARC0

Running E-85 may me good for the local economy, but it is raising food prices everywhere in the process. Not a good deal IMO.

That's just rhetoric when we still pay farmers to NOT farm ground.

Also, food is one thing I would be happy to pay "too much" for.

thats correct aswell.my father did the startup for the ethanol plant at cargill in eddyville iowa and saw this coming back in the early 1990s.a good chunk of my salary comes from the process control industry so i will continue to support it.and trust me food prices have gone up more due to the logistics which went up because the fuel surcharges.

couldn't have said it better myself.

+1. Land is a limited resource, much like oil. There's only so much land that can grow corn, and corn has way moar uses than just ethanol production.

Ethanol is a step in the right direction (Away from fossil fuels), but it's not the answer many people make it out to be.

I'd like to see a lot more research into hydrogen. Everything i'm reading about that says it's a rather promising fuel source.
