Free Avy Class Tuesday....

Sorry I missed it. Late notice and already had plans for tonight but I do very much appreciate the fact that you offerd the class and shared the information.

Hoping to get to the next one with some new riders.

Keep us posted!!

Thanks

This was interesting. Idid get there. JW and his friend Todd were there, my client and my nephew were there. at least 150 peeps were there.

It was a basic avy awareness class. very worth going to.

They did stress that things are really bad this year and about to get worse. asked what will correct this rot under ice layer thing.... the answer was it may be a very bad year for a very long time. the skills they stressed were using your head, having a plan and staying out of trouble. Recognize the signs and obey the avy center.

glad I went. the more training the better.

climbing is over rated. at least this year. :) Powder still rules even on the flats for me.

ho ho all

Plan for the best, Prepare for the worst

Those words were what struck me the most. I know I am not prepared and NEED to be.

Some of the words, phrases, etc used by Drew Hardesty to describe the snowpack we are experiencing were frightening. I for one WILL NOT be climbing on hills anytime soon. The two most sombering statistics they showed were 1) Snowmobilers lead the pack in Avy deaths, 2) Better than 40% of Avy deaths occur on days when the forcast is considerable. They said people look at it as maybe it could slide maybe it won't and they take an unneccesary risk. Todd and I made some comments about how often we are in stupid spots and never think twice about it. I am officially changing my riding habits because I do not want to experience the worst. I will be banging the trees all season if necessary, which is fine because that is where I would rather ride anyways.

It would be nice to have an awareness class driven directly at snowmobiling. All of the info was still valuable and I'd like to think I will utilize some of it. A big kUDOS goes out to the UAC, and White Pine for putting this together. The two guys that talked obviously knew their stuff.

Ride to ride another day!!!

DUB

P.S. They made mention that this next week or so will be VERY dangerous and I got the feeling that they expect tradgedy to strike. Our snow is very unstable and getting loaded by the minute. Please be smart out there and remember that an accident that ends in death will effect more people than you might think. Be aware of your surroundings and stay away from the big stuff for now.

Well said WFO:beer;. I wish we could have made the class. Playing in the trees and meadows is fine by me. Happy Holidays everyone!

Thanks Jared and Doug for the insight. Wish I could have made it. I dread coming home and watching the news for the next couple weeks. It will be ugly and dangerous out there. Don't get me wrong here, it could be bad all winter. I just think with so many tourist, peeps off work and uneducated hot shots, it makes accidents more likely.
PLAY SAFE AND LIVE TO RIDE ANOTHER DAY.

Happy Holidays!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That right there, I no Animals situation was hautning I got a phone call so I didnt have to find out on the TV. But it seemed that because there were so many (3) deaths that day they keep playing over and over. It sad when anyone dies like that but your friends & family have to relive it everytime they see the news.
