Fox Float Rear Suspension Rear Shock in '05 M7...Can it be done?

I was just thinking about how trick that air shock is in place of the previous absorber/slide spring set-up in the rear of our skids, and I got to wondering if I could buy the air shock for say an '08 M8 and bolt it into my '05 M7 skid in the place of the stock absorber? Thus being able to remove the slide spring, loose some weight, and have more adjustability!

Also, if this is possible, where is a good place with reasonable prices to pick up such a shock?

Thanks

Float conversion kit by arctic cat, you need the holz relocation brackets too, but ive heard it will work. PM Freeagent on here, she will have the best deal.

I've already got the holz brackets, but does anyone know the part number for the arctic cat conversion kit? Is there anyone else that makes one?

Arctic Cat# for Float Conversion

4639-994

PM Freeagent or check on Country Cat's Website, both good prices. This is the best kit for the money bar none.

I have the fox float on my 05 turbo. It has worked awsome other than being able to keep the front end down a little more like I like. K-mod is working on a block transfer to help with that for next season. If your not turbo'ed it works awsome right out of the gate.

are you going to ride it a little more than 5 times next year?

I sure hope so! Unemployed sucks! LOL

I did manage a little more than that :) Put about 600 on mine and about 350 on my buddies since he was fighting the cancer thing thru the winter. Should have them close to dialed in for next season :beer;

Ok, sounds great! That's 3/4 of the reason why I want to do this conversion is so I can get my sled to transfer weight better, the geo mod and all my adjustments just aren't cutting it. If she wants to wheelie, more power to her!

I think the float kits rides very nice, and was an improvement over my Titanium spring and shock setup of my M7 LE. We have to ride some groomed trails to get to our off trail spots, and although they are groomed they can get quite rough. I think the Float has a nice ride, and just a different feeling than the slide springs. My opinion

Do a search, many people on here that did the conversion really liked it!

Yeah, i did the float conversion to my '05 M7. Can't say it was a big improvement, but it is better. Mostly better geometry, I think. It's possible a better shock would improve it even more, but I think getting the right geometry first is a big plus. I think, though, after the float conversion, the front skid spring is next...(dual rate, I'm thinking...).
