Found grease behind driven clutch???

Doing a motor swap and found grease behind the primary clutch. Motor was rebuilt by someone else recently with a remanufactured crank. Assuming this isn't normal, what do I need to do to fix it? Can it be handled without tearing the whole thing down? Motor is out, but need to get this solved before going back in. If it matters, sled is an 04 summit 800. Thanks for any help!

change crank seal, very easy to do and it may need a little ISOFLEX grease,i use a syringe 50ml.

Easy if you can pop the seal back in.....if its fukered.....cases come apart! Still easy......but not quick.

Could someone please explain this procedure in a little more detail, some photos would be great.

My understanding is the PTO side seal has a lip that fits into a groove machined in the case halves. It sounds like one can carefully pry the old seal and push in a new seal and seat the lip properly in the groove?

Also I thought there was a common alternative to the Isoflex grease that is a little more economical?

Sorry for not researching more; posting this for a friend over my lunch break...

are you sure since the crank is newer that the grease is from having the bearings over packed? Id do a preasure check or start it up and spray with starter fluid and see if the idle picks up

Yep, some grease can be normal....any pictures?

No pics. Freaked out and ran it to the shop because I didn't have time to play with it before I wanted to ride next. Putting this motor in another sled that sent a rod through the case 35 miles after somebody else's rebuild. Don't need the stress right now. I would like to know what it was and how to fix it though.
