My buddy just did the seals on his 04 and now it has no dampening coming up. When you reef on the front end it just bangs when the forks get to full extension. Is it just that he didn't put in enough oil? He said he read on the internet to put in 390ml. Does that sound right. We're supposed to go riding tomorrow and he can't ride it like it is. Thanks in advance.

There's tube oil and damper oil. Make sure he has both. Read the link below:

Appreciate the reply. I emailed him those links and he said that he did his the same way as the fellow in the one clip. It doesn't say anything about any inner oil, it just says to pour it in the top before you thread the top on. It still just bangs out, no dampening at all. He is going to try and put in another 30 or 40 ml of oil. If anyone knows what's going on, let us know. Thanks.
It sounds like it has no inner chamber oil. If he drained the inner chamber oil and didn't put it back in it will have no dampening. Most of those bikes have the Showa forks and they need 200ml of inner chamber oil and 350-420ml of outer chamber oil depending on how stiff he likes it.
