This is a tough one. When and where will it stop?

Scott - I agree, The West bowls take what most know as Surveyor to the next level.

Only a couple of days left to comment on Closure!

Make sure you write a letter and get it delivered before Friday January 11th's deadline boys & girls!

Thanks,

This is bad... this is huge... can't help but think if it weren't for off-trail 4-wheelers trashing vegetation etc. we wouldn't be having to fight this now, since our impact is nothing... :(

My comments sent via email... with read receipt requested, and all my name and address and phone information included (if I remember right, they need that to make it an official part of the comments on the proposed changes)... is that good enough?

I have ridden some of these areas and all I can say is wow. If we lose this one... :brokenheart:

good advice for clearwater closures

For those in the Missoula/Lolo area, we just got the Missoula Snowgoers Club newsletter last night and they detailed out the letter they sent for our club and a strategy for our comments (written by Stan Spencer). He felt that "while a gazillion comments may be sent in and a gazillion different concerns are raised in those comments, no central focus or unified pattern develops when those comments are reviewed/analyzed by the Forest Service. A focused, unified message is absolutely essential to achieve our goal."

He said our comments should include 1) all the areas have been historically included as snowmobile recreation, 2) ask for the boundaries (as submitted by the Missoula Snowgoers Snowmobile Club) to be adjusted and excluded from the proposed wilderness areas 3) ask them to consider changing the proposed wilderness are to a national protection area 4) Note that the Lolo Forest already provides snowmobilers a corridor through a proposed wilderness area to access the Surveyor area within the Clearwater forest. Add any other comments you deem appropriate, but keep them positive.

I tried to find info on the MSSC website, but couldn't, but did find Stan Spencer's email and phone number. PM me if interested in getting ahold of him for more info.
