400+ hp and 400 ft.lbs. tq. Sounds like a really good engine. Initially for super duty and a special F150 but I heard that it will be available for all F150's in 2011. I guess they've been racing a higher hp version for several years and it's very durable.
Let's see ... 400 horsepower, 400 ft-lbs ..
So, in other words, it'll feel like 300 horsepower and 300 ft-lbs just like every other Ford small block thye've made in the last 10 years beint %25 over-rated ... and, this one will probably get a whopping 6 mpg too!
I am really not a fan of ford's current crop of gas motors at all ...
Underpowered fuel hungry dog motors ....
If you coulf get a Chevy motor in a Ford Truck I'd be in heaven
I wouldnt want a Govt Motor in a Ford...... Dont care for switch hitters LOL
It is long overdue for Ford to come out with a gasser to compete against the 6.0 Chevy. The 5.4 is a dog, and the v10 isn't much better. I hope they hit a home run with the new 6.2 because it is sorely needed.
I agree ... and there is no reason they shouldn't be able to right now either ...
I'd love to see a decent small block in a Ford truck these days ...
I wonder what will become of the 6.8L V10?
I'm sure that motor will get about 4 mpg pulling a trailer,LOL
gaaaaaaaahhhhhh yeah huh
it still hasn't sunk all the way in for me yet
this chevy I have right now will be the last one I ever own because of that ...
I guess I'll have to make due with Ford's V10 ....
Not true. If it is anything like gm's 8.1 they were right with the deisels for milage when LOADED. Sure, empty the deisels get better milage, but loaded, is a different story. Alot like the good ol 460's. 10 mpg empty, 10 mpg hauling everything but the kitchen sink behind you. My Dad's 8.1 only gets about 13-14 empty, but still gets 9 pulling a 25' fith wheel with a 20' boat behind it! And loaded like that, will pull a grade with any stock deisel. For the record, I have a 7.3 powerstroke and have had it for several years. I can't say it has been a bad truck, but I am not convinced that they are the best way to go either. My next truck will be a gasser. No more $100+ oil changes, and all the other things that go with the diesels. Going round and round at the gas station to fuel the truck AND the toys. Lots of little things.
Well.... I owned a 460 for a while, 10 empty on a good day and about 6 to 8 loaded. As for my sick liter does much better then an old 460 empty and load (almost twice as good). Including hauling up the grades.
Do you have someone change your oil for ya??? $100+ seams really steep to me! I spend 1/2 of that on Motorcraft oil and Filter for mine. Not saying Diesels are cheap to operate at all.....

Even Delo400 is over $20 a gal here. Anyting synthetic will cost you over $30. Filters are $25+ adds up quick. With Diesel fuel at just under $4.00 a gallon too, that takes away the "fuel savings" as well. It just doesn't add up.
WOW!!! Your not kidding! I could understand why you wouldn't want a diesel then.... I would give mine up for those prices.....OUCH
If they make a decent 400/400 6.2 v8, the v10 will be dead and gone much like gm's 8/1. Difference being, I would like to own an 8.1. My Dad has one and that is a great motor. I think you owned one as well if I remember right? Time for Ford to put a good gasser out there.
Yeah, I have an 8.1L in my personal truck and a 6.0L in my work truck. I'd take the 8.1L over the 6.0L any day of the week. It only gets marginally worse mileage and pulls a whole lot better.....
