FORD 6.4 guys! Want better mileage? Check this out!

"Legitimate" ahhh ok.
"Legal" Not a chance.

I don't know where you live but in Ontario if uncle Moe (Ministry of the Environment) finds out you "knowingly defeated an emissions control device" they just pull the plates off. Then you get fined for an imaginary "environmental cleanup" which is just a number they pull outta the sky. Then you pay impound fees. Then you pay for someone to put the vehicle back the way it was. Then you pay to have an emissions test performed. Then after everyone in the entire department signs off (and you know how fast thats gonna go) you get yer truck back. Hardly seems worth it.

You know, you're right, BUT, it doesn't seem to be a huge froblem around here...

The biggest issue we used to get was the cops harrasing certain people about no mufflers on diesels. There's some very good info in there about emissions, and how as emissions crap goes up, to try and "save the environment", more fuel is burned in the process. Case in point: The 7.3, and older 5.9 Cummins, Vs the newer 5.9, and 6.7 Cummins, and the 6.0 and 6.4 Powerstrokes....

It is funny how it's all supposed to be more friendly but it's buring through the fuel like no tomorrow. Doesn't make sense what so ever.

But again, people keep forking over the dough to buy the things so around and around we go.

As for the dieselstop, it's one of the most legit forums on the net when comes to information. I used to use that sight a lot.

You bet! I'm a Cummins guy, but, based on quite a few factors, my next one'll be a Super Duty, so, i've started my research. It seems like a great site. Don't get the bickering and one upping that you do on MOST other sites.:D

Well, if you think you are gonna get information on getting better mileage and performance by breaking emission laws... then you are going to be dissapointed.
Dieselstop has a rule that there will be no discussions on those topics.
For these trucks to meet emission laws, and have the horsepower, you will be sacraficing mileage. Look at the cummins, the new block is bad in fuel also.

It will only be a matter of time that everyone will have to comply to the emission laws. Read the whole thread on dieselstop, it explains some things. people will complain, and then there will be crackdowns.
Unfortunately, that is how it is gonna be.:face-icon-small-sho

Wow, I am glad I live in Wyoming where nobody cares.

Don't get me wrong, it's not like you hear of this happening everyday. In fact in Northern Ontario it's not even required to have the emisssions test done when a vehicle is sold. BUT!!! it is fully legal for uncle MOE to pull a vehicle over and write a test requirement if they believe that any emissions control has been altered or removed. Alot of the ricers around in southern Ontario have been pulled for the fart cans. Then when the MOE officer checks under the vehicle if any part looks altered or is missing they get written up. Also if your diesel is just parked at the side of the road they can just test the fuel in the tank, without your permission. And if they find coloured fuel yer up the creek. I forget how much the fine is but it's easily more than what you would have saved by buying off-road fuel.
