I am refubing my 4 horse trailer. Floor, lights, wires, paint, jack, etc.
I am currently in the process of sanding/sandblasting the entire thing. My ? for you guys is this---
The top was completely shot, (no structural rust, just surface, with no paint or primer left). When I hit the DA sander to it, it goes strait to bare metal. The sides and such have descent paint/primer left after the sander hits them. Gives a camo type finish, without going to bare steel. 40 & 60 grit paper.
Now, what kind of primer/surfacer and paint do I use to prevent this happening again? Granted, the trailer is 17 yrs old, so damage is expected at this age. With my current property everything I own is store indoors vs. what I had in the past.
I don't need/want showroom finish here, just something that will look good and stand up to the elements over time. Budget is kind of tight but won't sacrifice $ to end up with a Krylon job.
Also, I noticed there are painters in Id, Wy, Mt, and wonder what it would cost for your time. I supply the paint, supplies, shop, beer etc. you bring your guns and shoot.
Let's talk. I'm open to all suggestions here, local or not. Thanks fellas. Bullfrog.
Will get pics if you need.
