Fogging

This is my first year to have to fog my Pro, just wanted to know how to get to the throttle bodies the easiest or is there a better way to do it??? Just wanted to know how you guys do it and the easiest way to get to stuff! I did a search but I didnt see alot of ways to fog it or a good explanation of it.
Thanks, Dallas

I'm just gonna start mine every month bring up to temperature. Plus that way I get a chance to help curb my withdrawl till next season.

thanks for asking Icerider.

If anyone could snap a photo of where to spray the fogging oil into, that would be great.

Hood off, top snorkle tube, ECU off the tank, oil tank off the clutch cover, clutch cover off the sled, the upper box comes off with four clips and can be pulled out now, then four screws to remove the baffle plate, and wala, you are at the throttle body intake horns. That's how I think I did it last year to fog. Put the clutch cover and tank, ECU back in place to run it, of course. PITA, yeah, abit, nothing preserves the bottom end bearings like fogging oil...

And what do you need to do to clean it all up for the next riding season?

I just had my airbox off my IQ last week. I was really thinking that I should have been able to put some holes in the back of the airbox up high enough to clear the "rise" for the jackshaft and allow to get a fogging nozzle to line up with the TB's. This way, I could take the cowl off and slide the seat back, unplug the airbox port holes and fog the motor with everything else still hooked up. Once done, plug the holes back up and reassemble. I didn't come up with a good means to plug the airbox ports so I didn't do it.

Thanks for the help!! WOW they did not make it easy to do this!!:face-icon-small-fro Got to give my old Doo the nod here, open the side panel pull the back of the airbox out and there you are!! I will have to look at this thing this weekend, and Volcano has a good idea:face-icon-small-win I will have to see if you can rig something up so its not such a pain in the arse next year:face-icon-small-dis

why can't you just spray right into the air box? did that on all my revs with no issues.

We used to dump about 2 oz of oil down each cylinder/spark plug hole and pull it over very slowly...

Anybody still do this on the CFI's?

If you're going to do the start and reach op temp deal.... I'd strongly suggest moving your schedule up to once a WEEK atleast. And even so during the riding season itself if you're not riding it regularly, and or fogging. These are a high moisture ingestion engine in the first place, and as we know, severely starved for oil... Condensation, and corrosion can set-in in a very short time frame.

I'm gonna tear into mine and come up with a nice quick easy method of fogging without much trouble. Once I do find that, I'll fog slightly after every ride.

I found this on HCS, not sure if its the best way but may generate some ideas...

Fogging a Rush & Assault P.I.T.A

Fogged the sleds today and what a PITA. So came up with a method I used to fog Ski-Doo's that may help somebody here.
1) Remove the 2ndary clutch and roll back the insulation. Drill a .375 dia hole in the air box.
2) bend up some copper tube and mark the tube so the nozzle is on the center of the throttle body when inserted into the air box
3) Insert the tube into the air box with fogging can tube inside cooper tube
4) move tube to align with center of throttle body when engine is running to spray fogging oil
5) insert plastic plug into hole
6) fold back insulation

All I do is drain the fuel tank, leave a small amount of fuel in tank. Put some Stabil in fuel tank, start engine and let run for 10 mins. This coats the cylinders and injectors. I have never had a problem doing this.

STABLE VS. FOGGING OIL

Stabilizing the gas is great, don't get me wrong....but does nothing for protecting your motor from corrosion....fogging oil is the only line of defense.

I own 3 other doo's and fogging takes like 2 mins, this pro however looks a little more involved.

I do like how easy it is to remove the hood on the pro. I don't however like how tight it is to get the belt off.

me too, i am watching this thread closely

I think Mad has a good idea here:face-icon-small-coo But take it one step farther and cut an big square hole in there behind the clutch and make a bracket that will screw to it and let you take it off and on whenever you want!:face-icon-small-win Sounds like a good job for my wetjet, I am going to tear into this weekend, if I come up with something I will let you guys know.

wondering the same exact thing? do it on my 05 rev, works like a charm.
Seemed to work well on my 2010 assault last year as well. Shot it str8 into the airbox till it died. then pulled the plugs and gave it a good 5 second shot, then pulled the motor over slowly. might seem like overkill, but maybe not.

Unless you're just trying to 'fog' your spark plugs this is pointless. The whole idea is to get the crank bearings good and lubed and this old school method has no value.

Evil, when you do this how long did you do it for? and what kinda fogging oil do you use? And where did you spray it from? Mine is very thick and doesnt spray a mist very good, and I have always been told to fog 1 min for each cyl. from a very good sled mechanic Ive know for years. I have long tubes on the end of my fogging can that you put right in the opening of the throttle bodies so it goes right in. If I just sprayed the stuff I have right in the box it would be a killer mess everywhere:face-icon-small-dis It would be in the box forever until I cleaned it out.

i don't remember what i use but its a mist, i think its penzoil. i spray until its abotu to die, then kill it. remove plugs spray in cyl and pull motor slowly.
