Foam removal from the door / hood panels?

Is there going to be a problem if I remove the foam that is glued to the inside of each panel and the hood? This foam is not the aluminum coated stuff, just the egg-carton type grey foam.

ya doitinthesnow is wright i did it to my m7 and saved alot of weight because when its all wet its like ten puonds just go over the areas that had the foam with the silver heat reflection tape

Have fun!!! I spent 3 hours 3 rolls of paper towel and 2 can's of brake clean. That stuff is on there!!!

First thing off of my sleds.

I try to get ahold of the stickum sheet that is used to hold the foam--remember heat releases most adhesives--heat gun or blow dryer works well too.

Use coleman fuel. Pour it on, let it soak in and in 10 minutes it falls off. Wipe underside of hood clean. Quick & easy, but pick up all the foam & toss it before the fuel evaporates as the glue re-activates & will stick to whatever it is touching.

That Coleman fuel couldn't have worked any better. Great stuff, but you must be fairly quick about it. It does gum up again.

Also, I found that if you tug slowly and gently on the foam panels, they tend to come off all the way- just leaving some adhesive.
