FM transmitters for Ipod (car/truck)

whatever you do dont buy a cheap one as it is staticy and doesnt come in very well. had a friend that was cheap and bought a cheap one, took it back the next day

I have a griffen that works decent, but the best thing to do is upgrade your head unit if thats an option for you. I picked up a Alpine CD player with Ipod controls for my truck, and to me thats the way to go if you want any quality from your music. You can get them for about $200+ from crutchfield, with the ipod cable.

Has anyone tried the Maximo. I bought it for my Sansa MP3 player. It hasn't came yet. I hope that i didn't make a mistake.

What type of car u drive? I have a plug and play system from belkin, I believe, in my truck that works awesome. Only prob is it works with newer vehicles only. It was like $100 from best buy but it plugs right into the back of my stock cd player for my truck and I can switch songs with my steering wheel control or cd player. Its all hardwired in so it comes in with the same quality that a CD does. Im not a fan of the FM transmitters I have yet to find one that sounds good, just my opinion but if you can spend the extra $50 for a hardwire kit I would do it.

They all are horriable. If you have any kind of a "system" You will find the frequency response is total crap compaired to a good recorded cd. Some cd's and the quality of the recording are crap also. Best bet is get a new head unit. I had to buy a interface AND a XM tunner box to make my deck satalite compatiable at a great expense comared to a modulator but it was WELL worth it ! Plus a new head unit lets you control the I Pod from the deck face.
Switch back and forth from a cd to the fm modulator and you will see what I mean no matter how good you THINK your modulator is.

New Head Unit!

I tried the wireless route and found it to have way to much static, interferance, etc.

Went with an Alpine dvd touchscreen with ipod cord and it is so much cleaner.

Just my.02

Rob.

I have the Griffin it works great AND charges mt Ipod!! So when I get to the Mnt. I can rock & ride!

Had a cheap one and returned it, nothing but crap. Bought a Monster one and it also loses fm capture more frequently than I like. I'd rather have a direct cable to source the Ipod to the stereo. Not sure spending $$$ is worth it, in my case not so much.

Well my plan was to get one, and switch it between the 3 vehicles I drive, so getting a new head unit for all three isn't in the budget (girlfriends are expensive) so I just wanted a fm thingy to use in the meantime.......MONSTER?

THANKS SUP, MAN she is ugly, and I am half drunk already, that's the one I am looking at.......BEST BUY 99.99 and ebay is half that with shipping.....I will keep bidding!

Try and buy an older one. The FCC has new rules on FM Transmitters. They are requiring the signal to be weaker. The old ones will have a stronger broadcast signal. In all honestly if your stereo has an auxilary input, use that. 20 times better.

I had a monster one to start out with. Worked great for the first few months, then went to chit, it had a lot of static. I now have a kensington that works wonders for over a year now.
