flying nun

Has any one replaced a flying nun on a 04 mxz 500 ss I bought a used sled and didnt notice the left shock was almost rubbing the upper control arm . I asked the guy when I bought it if it ever was in a wreck and he said no, I called him back after I noticed it and he said it was like that when he bought it. He also said he didnt notice any differnt in the handling. Does any one have some input on what I should do it only has 900 miles on it Thanks for your help

4 years ago I hit a rock with my rev with left ski. The shock was crushed into the a arm. I tore it apart, drilled out the rivets and hammered everything straight. Re-riveted it together. Not good as new but works just fine for me. Otherwise you could put new front end into it. Could be a real p.i.t.a. though. I would see if I could pound it straight first. Takes alot of time, but it don't cost money.

If you decide to replace it is usually pretty easy finding used frontends. Check the parts section or go to dootalk and search there. Might take some time, but should be able to find good straight used one. Usually one on ebay too. forgot to mention Ive put on over 3,000 miles on my rev after bending everything straight again. Goodluck in what direction you decide to take.

My rule is "if it ain't rubbing I'm riding" make sure the bulkheads aren't bent behind the clutch and can. That can affect clutch alignment and promote premature belt wear....

Have done one NUN (bulkhead)replacement on and 06 REV, a PITA for sure but I'm glad I did because I know allot more about my sled now, plus I'm kind of a project oriented guy, just ask my GF. ANyway, ride it, if you don't notice any significant problems with steering or handling, ride that sucker and fix it ext summer after you've whacked your sled a bunch of times this winter. If you notice it and it really bugs you, go ahead and Doo it. Search for "gade girl and SKidoo Nun replacement" (I think) does a good write up of a SkiDoo NUN replacement with lots of pice and good commontary.

Bump for wwracer braces. Hit a stump in the first 10 min last year. Without his clutch side brace, i would have to tow out. The bulkhead folded 2mm from the clutch.
