Floats on a wedge?

I found some fox float 2's for a good price. My question is would this be a upgrade vs my stock front shocks on a 97 xlt? And no I don't have the fox coil right now. My main reason for upgrade was for weight savings but I've read that they don't do well on the trail? What do guys think?

Artic cat. Float 2's, yes correct length. But I would have to revalve for rider weight. I know to stay away from the 1's and heard 2's are much better and I could have the option of putting Evolve kit on.

If not for floats what other shock would be a huge upgrade that is lightweight?
