floats and a sway bar?

Anyone riding with floats and a sway bar? I like to have the sway bar out with my floats, but off camber riding (seems like all the time lol) has suffered and the sled feels more tippy. I am running about 90 psi in the floats right now.

I am thinking about putting the sway bar back in and knocking the pressure down some more, just curious on your thoughts.

If memory serves me right (rarely does) there are a lot of guys in BC that run coil spring shocks with swaybars and is preferred. Is this for better off camber performance?

That pressure is alot higher than what i've found to work. I'm at 75psi w/o swaybar and I think i'm going to drop is some more.

What terrain are you guys riding in? Massive off cambers? My problem seems to be being able to turn around when still on a slope, or slow side hill maneuvers on packed snow.

Thanks for the help.

Ruffy,

Have you done the front end adjustment yet? Need to get a couple of degreed of negative camber (top of spindles leaning inward). I also set my ski's up with just a slight bit of toe out.

With the stock spindles/heim joints, you have to have about 2.5mm machined out of the upper heim joint where is seats in the upper a-arm. There are a couple of threads on TY about this, along with some pics.

After doing the above changes, it made a HUGE difference in the handling. Also, it eliminated the twitchy feeling on the road.

Where at and how much? Did you change the rubber on the skis around?

Anyone else do these mods and notice similar results?

I added a link to my previous post...take a look, detailed pics and explanation.

My sled came with Timbersled Barkbuster front end, and I added SlyDog skis. When I got it, it was set up similar to stock. I changed the camber, and toe, and it made it 1000 times better.

Well in search for more than yep, I dove in head first. Found a cool guy near me that cut the upper ball joints down 2.5mm for free and the install was good. I switched the ski rubber around also, didn't do any shimming though, figured I will see how it is first.

A couple notes about adjusting alignment on the sled.
1. It is retarded
2. The manual doesn't say how retarded it actual is

I guess it wouldn't be bad if I were half the size, but oh well.

Here is my shop, it is the new open air design. lol

Got access, nope. Had a heck of a time trying to loosen up the lock nuts on the tie rods in the sled. The ones on the skis went fine, after I remembered they are threaded differently.

Finally got sick of trying to jam my hand in there, figured I would take the belly pan off and go in from the bottom.

Ta da, access.

Though I didn't notice it at the time, there is quite a bit of coolant around there. I did spill a bunch when I filled it a couple hundred miles ago, but then again, it was upside down last week, and the week before, and the......

The skis were out quite a bit, but I adjusted it close to 1/4" toe out (+ or - a half an inch. lol)

I will let you guys know how it goes Wednesday. Hopefully it will be much better.

Thanks modsledr for the help.

Yep...lol:beer;

i too took 2.5 mm off my top ball joints , guess ill see how they work this weekend ? i also powder coated my stock a arms black , i think thats going to improve the handling quite a bit lol :D
ruffryder did you take 2.5 mm off the tie rods ? the way i understood was to take it off the upper ball joints

Well, it worked as described. The sled seemed to be much more stable on the trails. Darting was reduced quite a bit, and the tippyness was reduced a lot also. I would recommend doing this mod to all nytros.

Thanks for the help.
