Flickable????

I got a 2012 Pro Turbo and feel that I have lost what this sled is great for due to the turbo. First trip out with it turbo'd I swapped back and forth with a friend that has an assault and noticed that mine felt real similar to his assault. Second trip out with it at cooke city this weekend I swapped back and forth with a pro rmk and was totally disappointed with how much more flickable that sled was.

The power of the turbo is awesome, especially this last weekend in cooke when it was over the windshield. It ran great for two days, except for on down hill turns when it was over windshield the whole time and snorkel would be covered by snow. I am just disappointed in how it handles now after hanging the turbo on it. I never noticed this with my 09 turbo dragon.

Anyone else notice this that has swapped sleds? I am thinking the carls 900 would be the ultimate tool for my style of riding with the pro-rmk.

I suppose from hanging 20+lbs at a low center of gravity. I switched off and on with a stock 2012 pro and a slp stage 2 2011 pro, and all three of us thought the turbo was by far the least nimble. It just feels heavier(which it is).

Slow speed maneuvers is where I notice it the most.

You ought to be able to tune that out by playing with the skid a bit. You can't expect to add weight (changing the sled balance) and change the pulling force on the track as much as a turbo does withought making some adjustments to the skid.

try tightening the frt skid shock a little at a time and see if it helps..loosening the rear shock would as well..but might lead to wheelies...

I think this has more to do with having the turbo properly tuned and the skid set up right to handle the turbo HP.

I had the opposite experience. I had to ride a few stock RMK's last week and they felt gutless and heavy compared to my turbo. I realized throttle response and a properly set up skid are what makes a sled feel light and nimble. Not having any HP off the throttle on the stock sleds made them feel unresponsive and heavy. Off course its the same old thing, how much money are you willing to spend to add HP and update the skid to handle it properly so you arent fighting the balance of the sled.

Takes some getting used to, Problem is off boost the turbos a slug, just that you must run a huge amount of weight and clutch to hold the power when on boost, and you have to be 5000 rpm up for boost. It just takes away all the low end grunt of a na mod motor. Yes you can get it pretty good with clutching/suspention but it will never have the snap of a na motor down low. Thus it is quite a different animal to ride. My friends carls 860 high comp dragon will leave the turbo for dead from a slow roll, then turbo reels it back in (10 psi) . Now if you like a low enguagement its just not going to happen.

I would also agree that for my riding style I do tend to like the carls 900 type motor at about 200 hp, super insane low end and throttles there when you hit it,no matter what the rpm is. IMHO only tho as many guys like the turbo power curve better, my riding buddy rides his "on boost" all the time and loves it. Just 2 different ways to make big power. i do however like the turbo better than a stock motor and yes stock feels pretty bad after riding 200 hp with any sled

I'm still messing with my clutches and have bout 3 more helixs to try as well as many springs...lol i'll post results if I find a good combo.

Love the turbo, handling is fine on the 163"

I have my boost turned down fairly conservatively. 46 helix, 70gms primary clutch weight and some specific fuel numbers/mapping. I do want to crank up my front shock a bit, but overall, it runs and handles TOPS! very smooth throughout the powerband! I am also coming off of an xp, 860 kit. I am not a shoot rider though, I prefer the trees!

What you may be experiencing is the centrifugal force you now have to overcome when you're dealing with a 65 MPH trackspeed instead of 41 MPH trackspeed. That sled is not going to want to change direction until you slow the track down. A turbo sled run wide open is the exact opposite of flickable.

bingo we have a winner

So what changed between the first trip and the second trip???? Maybe I am missing something here.:face-icon-small-con

Doesn't the Assualt have the wider A-arms?

I DID miss it. He was at first compaing to an Assault. Yep, RMK vs. Assault. Yep, it is different. No doubt.
