Flattops

Anyone have any good tips for the flattops? I'm in Colorado for an entire month and we generally ride Rabbit Ears but thinking of checking out the flattops as it sounds unique/different. I understand it's a long trail ride up. Are the trails generally in decent condition or will it be a miserable ride up and down? Any TH better than another? Dotsero would be the closest for us.

I rode out of Dotsero for 6 years. It is about 18 miles to get up and out to the good stuff. Fun area and big.

Why not just park further up? Take the highway up from new castle the west elk trailhead and save yourself the 15 mile ride up.

It's big. Moderately busy on weekends(lot has been full before when I've gone later on a Saturday). I've seen a lot of big rigs up there.

If your trailer is that big, I'd probably do New Castle. Coffee Pot and Transfer Trail fill up quickly. Coffee Pot is a stacked parking area, so it can be hard to get in and turn around with a bigger trailer on busy days.
