Flattop Conditions

Traveling home for the Holidays, and was wondering if there is any decent snow on the Flattops? I've been working in Houston since the economy took a dive, and will be coming home to New Castle for about a week and a half. From what I've seen on the various weather sites, the area hasn't gotten much snow for a couple weeks. Just hoping to get the sleds out while I'm home.

Thanks! So is it 6 miles to Bison Lake from the parking lot or 24 miles? What is the trail like on the way up there?

We were up Saturday. Towards Blair it really got thin. The trees are not bad, but they need snow bad.

flat tops

We rode sat. the 26th, pretty good from heiner springs east, pretty marked up but still lots of areas with no tracks. probably 4 foot on the level at the top.

I finally got out yesterday with a friend of mine. Trail from West Elk parking lot was pretty beat up to triangle park, but we were able to get to some un-tracked areas off trail. Snow was okay, but the further North we road, the more exposed rocks we saw. Overall, it was a beatiful day for riding. Its currently snowing in the New Castle area, so I have to believe the higher elevations are getting some needed snow.
