Fix Kit is in!...Little worried though....

I installed the kit this past weekend. Sled has 1100 miles on it and has never failed me yet, but just seemed to keep running doggier and doggier so that is why I decided to put the kit on. We got it all pulled apart and the old pistons looked good, same with the cylinders. So we honed the cylinders lightly, and everything went back together fine, started it up and ran it for about 10 minutes at an idle, and sounded good. Couldn't take it out for a ride (no snow). But what has got me worried is we never measured the cylinders themselves to see the size difference between them and the new pistons with the kit. Did I make a big mistake by not double checking the clearance on the cylinders? Thanks for any feedback...

worried

If they weren't scuffed then I wouldn't worry. Wear point is piston skirts. the Nicasil is lots harder than the pistons. My brother has one apart right now that the fix is going on and the pistons were scuffed but not the cyinders. 1200 miles since update. Cylinders show .00075 taper. 3/4 of a thousandth is probably within new spec.

They guys at PMS told me they had seen "warped" cylinders. I don't know how common that is. You might give them a call and ask them what they think.

I had Buckies in Pinedale Wyo install the Mtn tek kit in my 09 last spring new cylinder and the kit My Brother bought the 09 against my better jugement with a 120 mi on the new topend. Its running right with my 2012 pro but I only have 70 mi on the pro and didn't get on it very hard..........The rpms on the 09 were right at 8200 better than it ever ran stock......

Excellent feedback on the Dragon with the Fix Kit and the new Pro.

Please keep us posted on how they run compared to each other.
