Fitting 09 plastics

Hey guys, I'm just finished installing an 09 plastic kit, and I'm at the finishing stages now. Putting fire and ice air box on, and the stock plenum is too tight. Are you guys heating up your nose cone, and making the quarter inch room for it too fit properly? Also, some ideas when cutting out the new exhaust hole. Thanks dudes!! This kit installs like a dream.

you should be able to get away with heating up the plastic and making it fit, mine didnt need much for room to clear the boost box. on the exhaust cut out, remember, cut a little at a time, you dont want to be like guidoxpress and have 10 holes in your sled.....:rofl:

I just finished mine a few days ago. I didnt have any issues with the FnI and old boost box, I've seen other threads where they have heated and molded to fit.
As for the exhaust hole....a 4 1/4" hole saw works perfect...nice and snug for the rubber ring. I also just fabed up a plastic piece from my old fender to cover the factory drilled hole (wrong spot)....integrated it into the metal support piece that goes on the bottom and then rivet. Worked like a charm

How are you guys mounting your fni air box? Like where does it mount to after the stock boost box. On top of the clutch cover? Do you have to remove the air box to pull your clutch cover off? I bought the air box used with no instructions. Any ideas boys? Thx!

It comes with a bracket that mounts to the steering hoop and holds/connects to the airbox.
If you need more pics, let me know.

i also bought mine with nothing else...so i called Paul at FNI and he sent the bracket for like $20 or something...

the FNI belt cover is best with the intake, you remove the pins and it slides out from the side...the other other belt covers are wide and will hit the intake since you have to pull "up" on them...

Nice! I got her all buttoned up. Thanks for the help guys. I had that plastic piece to mount it, just didnt know how to. Cheers! Almost time to start her up, after a fresh rebuild.

Don't mean to hijack but.... lol

I'm about to order up my fall parts list, and the narrow front end kit is at the top.
I searched but I couldn't find a definitive answer on the few extras needed for the install. Can someone list all pieces needed for install on an 06.... of course aside from the conversion kit from Polaris. It's just rivets and bolts right?

when i ordered last season...
if you got it from ftx you needed to get bolts and rivets
if you order from babbitts online its all included

Thanks dude. Mine is coming from Carl's and it does say "all nec. hardware included" so I should be good to go!
I just wanted to be sure since all I have in town is a crappy little hardware store.

Hey Disco, this front end kit mounts up real nice. I was surprised at how well it actually fit. The nasty fit was the ftx carbon side panels. I had to tailor the tab holes, and it still doesn't fit well. Looks dope, hope it lasts for a season! Good luck with the front end conversion. Do your self a favor and drop a hundred bucks on a pneumatic air riveter. You will be thanking me later unless you already have one.

Good to hear MacDawg,I hope it goes as smooth for me as it has for alot of you!
Air rivet gun? I thought all the rivets for this swap were regular old poppers.
