Thinking taking my wife to the area for the weekend. We've never been before, so how is the area and snow? My wife is a pretty good rider, but isn't a fan of whooped out trails. Also any recommendations on lodging? Thanks!

Grooming is done. the trails will be a little bumpy and it is gettting warm over there so might have a few trails not open or paches of dirt on them. The Trinity road still had a lot of snow on it this weekend, from Fish Lake Snowpark. The trails out that direction probably all still have snow on them. You could park up the Eagle Creek Road, 2 miles north of Leavenworth and ride Sugarloaf. Blewett is only ~30 miles form Leavenworth, dont know the conditions, but if you stay in Leavenworth you could do both.

Thank you!

Do you think sugarloaf is a better option? Looks like we will stay in Leavenworth, and just riding Sunday.

Blewett sucks. Went there Sunday and the trails are whooped out really bad. Lots of snow up there, but the ride in and out is absolutely horrible and I have a Timbersled setup and it was torture. And I wrecked really bad, so that didn't help the trip up there either.

i agree that sugar loaf via eagle creek is where i would go. if you go to fish lake it is only forest roads with no play areas until you get to sugar. it's also a long ride. eagle creek is less than ten miles. if you go to sugarloaf make sure you find the fire lookout station.

Sound like that is the plan. So is eagle creek off highway 2?

Drive into Leavenworth take a left on Chumstick road heading north, turn right on Eagle creek road follow until you hit snow. Where you go from there:noidea: we are heading there Thursday and Friday, I'll let you know what we find.

Unable to access. Sugarloaf via eagle creek barricade way below the snowline. We ended up at Fishlake for some high speed road riding. The roads are in good shape very nice weather.

Sorry to hear that; we just move it and record the Forest Service volunteer hours with the local club :face-icon-small-win The roads open according to them on a certain date... and leagaly if you have a vehical capable of it you can run all the way to the top (no pun intended).

But seriously People be careful this time of year for the Ice spots on the trails cause a sled can co sideways real fast.

You should be able to park at thousand trails or on the 6100 road head past burgess meadow head up the mountain passed the fault line road and up to the elbo/deer camp from ther you can bust left and head up to maverick saddle if its not slid shut to sugar loaf or stay on the main road and go up french corral way and up but its quite A bit farther.

Lots a dirt on that lower road now at the straits on the sunny side... it seemed to miss the bigger snow events and/or didn't keep it. It's a real good year to make it that route after March 15ish. If you know someone at the end of moon canyon that road is in the shade... although the last streach to the y before French corral will be the limiting factor. But hey i will ride some dirt, scags are only $90 and usually get 2 years anyway.

Being that I don't know this area at all, if I'm coming from Leavenworth how/which roads to I take to get there?

with that being said, where would the best place to go be?

I have not been over there this season so he could be right about snow bein sparse down low but seeing as we still have alot down low everywhere else I would go check and the thin spots just down from french corral usually just melt off the bank and leave the packed trail thin but there. Now if ya want to hit french corral from moon canyon from leavenworth eastbound I believe its the last stop light before you go across the bridge to safeway take left at that light stay on that road passing the high school stay on that road you will pass under 2 train tressels after the second one about 300 yards down on the right side is moon canyon road.

The 6100 road is directly across the street from thousand trails adult lodge you follow it up until it Ts and go right follow that there will be a meadow on your right at the end of the meadow take the road that goes uphiill above the meadow stay on that it will take you up and over and start heading back down till you hit a long straight away at the end of that straight there is a sharp left avoid pinning it down that straight till you know that corner I had to ride a buddys sled out the bottom of that corners drop off it wasnt pretty.now after that there will be a sharp right on that corner there is a road on your left you take stay on that road it will take you all the way up to french corral
