This is only for the guys that bought a Yamaha as their first sled this year. Please let us know how you came to buy a Yamaha? Also how was your first year of riding? Thanks

All others,,,,, please don't chime in.. We know how it will go.

This was my first Yami in a looooong time but bought the '09 Nytro because I wanted reliability!!! You can make a sled lighter but the builder has to make it reliable. I LOOOOOVE my Nytro. Was really fun in stock form but is awesome with boost. No, you don't have to boost is but it sure is a blast. For me I think the ride is good but I think the handling is great. This is a great boondocking sled. The power is soooo smooth and the best part is just turn the key and go. I have an '08 XP as well but my next new sled will be another Yamaha. The fit and finish is the best (IMHO) and any builder that offers a 4 year bumper to bumper warranty obviously has done their homework and can back it up. You won't find many Yamaha owners that aren't happy with their sled. Their just that good. Yes, like any of them you can make it better but with a Yami at least it's reliable.

You are in NM,,, Just wondering where your best place to ride is?

If yamaha's sleds are half as good as their bikes I still don't know why I haven't bought one yet. My YZ 250 is the best bike I've ever had. My buddy hasn't spent ten cents on the 96 yz250 he bought three years ago(literally, its never even had fresh oil), and another friends YZ 125 is absolutely bulletproof for a 125. I used to ride honda but never again. All three of these bikes are super strong runners, I personally could out holeshot my buddy's CRF450 almost everytime on my YZ250 smoker.:D

Sounds like you need to buy a Yammi sled!

I have had 3 yamaha 4 stroke dirt bikes and rode the piss out of them with out any issues ever. I bought a nytro mtx this last summer and absolutely loved it. I will be forever a yamaha man after the service and reliability i have had with my dirt bikes and now my snowmobile.

I picked up my Nytro after a couple years of riding here and there on borrowed sleds, so my first full season was on my yamaha.

To be completely honest my initial impression of my 08 Nytro was that it rocked! This was early season riding in 2-3 feet of snow and I was in love.

Then I went to Idaho and rode in some very fluffy bottomless powder. At the end of the day I was ready to give my sled to the next person that walked past...All was not lost though. I sucked up the limiter straps and that seemed to solve my trenching and horrible pushing in the corners. I ran stock for one season and this year I added a 162 power claw, mtn tamer/ice age rails, and a lefty. Next fall its getting some boost.

I get a kick out of reading about sleds that have lost a crank or how many times they burned down their top end in a season. Granted there are some reliable 2 strokes out there but they'll never last as long as a 4 stroke will.

First Yammi this year. It is not as light as a 2 smoker but I am not worrying about the crank. Cash helps out the main problems (power and weight).

the wife and I talked it over and we thought it would be perfect for me

Brother bought an 06 Apex Mtn. I spent quite a few hours on it and have to say the power is awesome. Can't imagine running one with boost, must be frickin insane!!

Loved the turn key starting, reverse, 4 stroke, no maintenance, and unbeatable fit and finish.

Hated the ultra heavy weight and engine braking. When he stuck that pig, it wasn't just an easy dig out. It was UGLY because it was so heavy. After giving it a chance for a year, he decided to sell it and switch back to the lighter 2 stroke M8.
