First time riding Colorado

Hello,
My name is Mike and I'm planning a 3 week trip this winter some time in January to drive out from the East Coast to do some riding in Colorado. Never rode Colorado so I'm looking for some help to get me towards the best riding.

I'm an experienced mountain rider and enjoy riding in the steep, the meadows, and in the trees. Would be great to ride with some riders familiar to the area or anyone just looking to get out and ride. Any insight would be great. Thanks

I ride southern colorado every weekend and some weekdays. your more than welcome to join my crew as we explore the backcountry. we ride from mild to wild so im sure we can fit you in somewhere!!!

too many good spots!

How long will you be in Colorado? The best thing to do is be flexible and follow the snow.

Feel free to join my page and run with us while you're out also.

Are you avi trained and equipped?

Thanks for responding everyone. Tudizzle, I plan on arriving the first week of January and staying for at least two weeks, possibly three. I am avalanche trained and equipped, my mountain experience comes from riding in Alaska and in Wyoming. Milo, I joined your page just now, looks like a good resource, thanks. DOOin it, thanks for offering to ride, I will for sure take you up on that. What part of southern CO do you speak of?

I ride wolfcreek, tuckerponds area usually. thats in between pagosa springs, were i live and southfork

Mike, How many in your group? If you make it to Western CO I'll show you around the Grand mesa. Lodging is available at the Alexander Lake Lodge.

As of now its me and two others who haven't given a full commitment yet, so I am the only one definitely going currently.

I hear you, I picked my 2014 Assault last week, wish I wasn't stuck in the flats until January.

Hey Dooin it in P, does your dealer have a cancelled Summit xm/154 available. 4 yr warranty?

Seeing all that snow is driving me crazy. Been looking into finding around 2-3 nice riding areas to explore in January. We're going to be most likely camping in the trailer for probably 2-3 days, then moving on to another riding area. Any suggestions on areas that would lend to this kind of trip would be would be great.

My dealer here in pagosa is Polaris and Yamaha..I got my sled ordered from power world In granby co. Not sure if they have any!!

Getting very anxious now, especially after seeing all the photos of that awesome early season riding some of you've been putting in. Dates are finalized for the trip. I'll be arriving in Colorado January fourth and plan on staying for roughly two weeks. Can't wait! A few inches fell here in the east and it may dump a foot Wednesday, hoping to get in a few miles on the RMK to hold me over. Looking forward to meet and ride with some of you folks in January. Feel free to share some riding pics if you already got out there. :face-icon-small-coo
