first time out not to happy

Just bought an 09 M1000 162 got it home and put an MBRP can and some frogskin vents on. Went for a ride today and it feels like it is loading up off the line it bogs for about 50 feet if you hold it to the pin even on the field sometimes it would do it until I open it up and clean it out. When it does open up it pulls nice any ideas people.

First time out not to happy

Just went out for a first time ride on my 09 M1000 162 snopro and it would bog out on me off the line when I hold it to the pin until it cleaned itself out. Even across the field sometimes it felt this way until I opened it up a bit. I am at 1600 feet elevation and when it cleans out it pulls about 7300 rpm. Only thing I put on this sled was an MBRP can and a big air intake. Am I missing something I thought if I left this thing all stock it would be ok But I cant handle this bog when you line up with someone and you get your a$$ kicked for the first 50 feet by your sons M8 thats not cool. Some help would be most appreciated.

Bog

Take off the big air intake and see if it BOG goes away. Next take off the can and see what it does. Eliminate one item at a time until your back to stock.
You may be suprised what is causing it. Hope this helps you out. RickM

remove intake, then remove can, check belt deflection, I would get the clutching alignment checked to. the 09 oil pumps like to stick and load up the motor to. Mine ran like a raped app when I first got it. and even better when I deleted the oiler. The slp can works good on stock m1000

Is this a hold over with 0 miles? If so the first tank is mixed to help with the breakin process. Mine had a slight bog for the first few miles and then it cleaned up. But ya as mentioned above, go back to stock and see if the mods did it. Be careful with fuel controlers you can also take to much away!

Your dealer should have added oil to the fuel to assist in breaking in the motor and setting the rings properly. If it's a brand new sled, then your gonna be way rich as a result. Which means you more than likely will have some bog. Oh, and if your following standard break in processes, you don't want to "pin it" for long at all until you burn through at least the first tank.

If our sled isn't brand new, then I'm sorry for wasting your time.

It's just pig rich in the middle :(

Pal bought M1000 SP 153" -09 and thought now he has a sled which works right from factory. What a dissappointment! We are also at low elevation. Sled just bogged at mid range - badly. Top end seemed to be ok but it was hard to get it there sometimes. It did work in lake racing but in trees it was not good. Luckily SLP makes pipe kit and Boondocker makes fuel boxes :) We put full slp pipe and boondocker box with slp recommendations and wow - completely different sled! Now it pulls everywhere and everytime as it should from factory.

Bad thing is pal would have like to keep it stock and run it's designed to do. Seems it's not possible as it bogs so hard.

Make sure you have low altitude clutching in it.

I had to buy that extra when I got mine. It is a kit that Cat sells. New weights and helix and secondary spring if I remember correct.

loading up

my 08 was loading up real bad when i picked it up from the dealer and when i got it home to unload. took it in to my garage and put the y pipe on and a can and took it for a rip and no more loading up.just a little if i let it idle for a while but it still has the breakin oil in it.

^^X2 on the clutching. They are not set up from the factory for 1600'. If that is not the problem trade it in on a M8. Mine has no bog and it sounds like you are getting beat by them anyways!!! ;)

have same sled . many new o9 m1ooo in town with same problem would not clean up till 4500 ft. different sled after reflash. but they still go lean at altitude.

try taking the clear hose coming off the ECU and pulling it out of the little gap they have it running into and set it up by the ECU....it's worked on a couple of sleds already. Mine will do the same a 2000' but at 6-7000' there is no bog....go figure!!! Also, check your fuel pressure, should be around 42-43 lbs. max. Good Luck.

factory fuel pressure is set between 42.5 and 47.8. This is not going to be the problem on a new 09.
