Well I got up early and got on the road by 5:30am and drove to the Highwood House gas station were I met up with Roy and a couple of his friends. So darn excited about riding I must appologise as I forget their names.
We drove from there the 20Km. to Cataract Creek parking lot, temperature -26c. I couldn't believe how cold it was.(Note to self fix thumb warmer.) Well the first part of the trail had only ten or so inches of snow and there was one creek that was about a foot deep that we broke through the ice,but I was riding.
It was only a hour or so into our ride that it started to warm up and we found a meadow with a hill and no stumps that had a bunch of little plateau like little jumps as you went up were we did play for a while catching some air time.I got a chance to ride the 2010 AC HCR and I've got to say that is one nice machine.
After we marked up that meadow we got back on the trail and if you know Cataract we got on Skyline trail which had two feet of snow and raced to the top of the ridge and stopped for a quick lunch.Muff pot cheddar smokies in tortiillas. As Roy had to leave for his Thanksgiving dinner we started back to the parking lot.
In our close to five hour ride I put on 45 miles and did not damage anything which is a first for me when it comes to Cataract. So if you feel the need to get out, there is snow, only its just trail snow so stay on the trail. Also met a Snowest member(Rucky) from Edmonton that came down for just a day ride, now thats dedication.
Cheers,
Dave
