First Ski Doo

Hello all. I just purchased my first Ski Doo after owning Cat's for years. The deal was too good to pass up. I bought a 2007 Ski Doo Summit X with a 151" track and 1400 miles for $3000. I thought it was a good deal and so did my buddies who own Ski Doo's.

Anyway, I am curious what kind of stuff I can/need to do to this sled to make the thing rip? I am going to pick it up today so I am not sure what all has been done to it (the kid I bought it from doesn't know much about sleds, he says it has a can on it but that's it). I am also going to need to work on the clutching, which I know nothing about on these being from Arctic Cat's haha.

Let me know what kind of info you guys might need to help you on giving me the correct advice. My buddy has a mechanic who is great with Ski Doo's, unfortunately the mechanic is in Oregon and my buddy only takes his sled up once a year and that has already passed.

Any information is appreciated. Thanks guys!!

Call Roosterbuilt for his 07 clutch recipe. 253-333-8533..Susp set up also.
Did you check crank run out? 1300 miles, its probably ok.
What type of riding do you plan on? Unhook sway bar if needed.
What track is on it? challenger lt came on alot of the 2007. Track is good in spring but no good in powder. TRENCHER.
There are a few intake kits out there.

I got rid of challenger lt for a xp take off $400 challenger
slp pipe and can.
Rooster clutch and susp set up.

I do mostly mountain riding with the only trail riding being from the truck until the powder starts. Maybe 5-10 miles most of the time. I am not sure what track is on it. The crank is good from what the guy said. He said he rode it very little and decided he didn't like the sport. Not the extreme type I guess. Anyway, I will call the guy up for the clutching recipe and see what else I can figure out.

I will post up some pics of the sled tonight when I get back from picking it up. Thanks for the reply.

Here she is.... Not sure what track that is, any ideas?? It looks like a Challenger from other pictures, just not sure which one.

I almost bought that sled last week! You find it on ksl.com? Good looking btw!

New track, team roller and an slp kit. My 07 had all those goodies and I'm pretty sure it will run the *** off the etech I just bought.

high compression head,y-pipe,boyseen reeds, can, and clutch it to your style and hang on.My 07 lays the smack down on my 2010 xp.

I recently heard that the R engine has had crank problems. Does anyone know anything about this??

Just had my question answered. I talked with John Rouland at Northern Crankshafts. He confirmed my suspicions on a faulty crank if SkiDoo hadn't done the case relief under warranty. Gonna be calling the dealer tomorrow to do a VIN check on it. If they haven't, then out comes the bottom end and shipping it to Minnesota.

Well, after having the local dealership run my VIN I found out that the sled had the warranty recall back in 2008. The sled had a new short block installed and is good to go. Saved me about $800 that I can put into the sled somewhere else.

Cool lookin sled, good to hear it has the update on the crank prob,

Snow Eliminator, or eqivalent Is a awesome very needed mod on these sleds if it hasn`t already been done. I love the Eliminators on my sled and about the most reasonably prices ones out there. great foot traction too.

Post forward mod works great along with taller risers, first ones most seem to do. remove swaybar

Do you have some more pics of the sled, pics are cool to see..

Good Luck and enjoy, Wildcard

I will definitely be removing the sway bar, putting on a new track, snow eliminators and a few other things this winter. I will be sure to post pics as I move forward with the mods. I may go all out and do some pretty extreme stuff. Not sure yet.
