First Ride/Ride Report: Ski-Doo 600 E-Tec XP

Just got back from my first ride of the 08-09 season.
We rode up Willow Creek WY.
Snow conditions were good once we got up high.
I'd say 3 feet base with 8-9 in. of fluff.
8K-9K ft. elavation.

Sled:
Good
-Way light!
-Super easy to carve, sidehill etc...
-Strong, good power for a 600 ( Definatley surprised me )
-Climbed great for a 600
-FAST!
-20 MPG

Bad:
Absolutely Nothing!

Clicker was on #3
No Belt problems at all
Handwarmers worked great

I have 27.4 Miles on it so far and LOVIN it!

P.S Who else has a 600 E-Tec?

great report! check your base gasket and see if you got any coolant leaking at all.

i have not been on one yet, but i bet the power delivery is just awesome. probably helps that the fuel pressure is ridiculous haha. cords aren't coming out of the belt or anything? that's def good news.

My buddies sled had coolant leaking out of the base gasket today. Bad gaskets??

i'm not sure. I know when we stopped there was alot of under-hood steam and I hadn't been in any powder so maybe It was burning oil.
Oh, also it stunk real bad.....

had one come in straight from the factory, had just finished uncrating it and setting it up and i noticed it was leaking from the base gasket.

could still be some of the oil that coats everything in the shipping process. it is always all over the pipe and clutch.

True, I hope so.

Im still In awe of how awsome It ran for stock out of the box!

I can tell you It kicked an 05 800 REV's A$$!!!

Good to know someone out there has enough snow to ride and let me know what my sled might be like! I have read over on dootalk that the etec burns more oil during the break in period, then it's supposed to start sipping it, hopefully living up to the hype we have read(meaning not drinking much at all).

rode this weekend with my buddy and his brand new 800 xp and it smelt horid and smoked like crazy for the first 15 miles. burning off all that new sled residue haha. that thing rips though! surprised me how much faster it felt than my m7

I am sure it will be a great sled but if you think you are going to get 20mpg in the mountains I think that is optimistic. I am interest to hear actual mpg and oil ratio. In one test hard trail riding got 12.8 mpg and 59 to 1 oil ratio on the trail etec.

sled of the year

etec 600 is sled of the year.. also dealer told me it will use one gallon of oil every 5000 miles......he started it for me and as he said and i agree it sounds like a 4 stroke.

5000 miles on a gallon of oil---LMAO--I talked to 2 Doo reps at different times and they said 800 to 1200 miles to a tank (Gallon).

As for as quite as a 4 stroke---You ain't a kidding--man that sled is quite!! Kinda sounds wrong to me;)
