I put on 82 miles of road and very gentle boondocking yesterday. Here are my observations and some misc. temp readings.
I stopped every 10 miles to take the QD belt temps, the first 50 miles the outside of the belt was around 190 degrees, inside around 195. By the end of the ride (82 miles) the belt temp dropped to 170 outside, 175 inside. The belt flings off what I would describe as gray belly button lint.
I blocked off the clutch side footwell and left the exhaust side stock. The clutch side was dry, but the QD had snow and ice around it. So, I will block off the exhaust side today.
The 2 holes in the bulkhead allow snow to get in and it creates a generous puddle in the bottom of the nose pan. Need to plug that today!
Motor was 2 pulls to start for about the first 50 miles, then began to start with one pull.
The motor would load up(slight blubber) after sitting for a few minutes, after about 40 miles it seemed to resolve.
I checked the clutch temp at every stop, secondary was consistently around 85 degrees, primary sheave outboard side 95 degrees, primary inboard 105 degrees, belt when new 158 degrees, belt when broken in 145 degrees.
82 miles, 10.1 gallon of fuel, 8 MPG.
My previous sled was the '11 XP, I could never seems to get the XP to turn, it seemed to push thru every turn, out of the crate the pro turns much better on the trail.
I have heard others say they think the XP has better suspension on rough trail, I road some rough trail yesterday and I thought it was about a toss up(although the woops were not as large as later in the season). Maybe the Pro's shocks sack out really fast?
The power seems adequate, but not anything special.
The sled comes up on edge like nothing I have ever ridden, after riding the XP it's like suddenly hitting the easy button.
No missing QD belt cogs, no shaft bulging or seperation.............yet!
