10 miles and one piston ,pretty sure I had detonation. It ate the exhaust side of piston right to the ring .EGTs never got past 1100 degrees ,but on a good note it did make it back to the truck on its own power.GOTTA LOVE MODS .Jumped on my other 2010 xp with rooster built clutch kit and it ran flawless, could not be happier with this clutch set up.

Anyone have a good suggestion on pistons, probably just change both somebody must have a opinion on this

what elevation, boost level, and fuel?

I just run the cheap spi T moly's. havn't had any problems with them. Just put new ones in every year or when you detonate one. :face-icon-small-coo
Definatly replace them both at the same time. never mix match pistons. they may weigh different. I have had a new set in and detonated one and just replaced that one with the same piston to match the other. I always weigh both pistons though to make sure they are balanced. Just incase one batch is a little different weight or they made a small change to them you can't notice.

8500' 10lbs and not enough race gas totally my fault probably less than 98octane THANKS on the pistons

raise your needle some or up the main jet 3 and run it like that first to see if she can tolerate more fuel. the mid to 3/4 throttle can be messed up if and you wont know it till its to late.

I'm suprised your det sensor didn't go off...might be fueling issues like gus said. Where is your jetting at?

Yes on the det sensor, but talking to the kit builder would appear the muffler i built would have an effect on this, once again my fault

muffler would have a effect on what?
How much race gas you runing?
I ride 6,000 to 8500 most of the time. unload as low as 5000 and ride as high as 10000. I ran 7lbs on pump 91 non ethanol all last year with no problems. I plan on runing 10lbs this year with 3 gallons of 105 motor octane fuel with premium non ethanol per tank this year.
stock head and stock compresion.

the muffler i built was a touch restrictive and in turn raised the pipe pressure and caused detonation which would eat the exhaust side of the piston and it did just that so i am learning

running at 8500'
10lbs boost
three gallons race gas was from bottom of barrel ? should of been 50/50 and fresh fuel i am guessing
head is cut to lower compression

I have to pull the cylinder and make sure it did not eat the exhaust side out of the cylinder itself, turbo looks good putting in two new pistons hopfully that will get it
