Looks like that was a wind loaded bowl from the pics.
Goes to show, you can never be too careful. There was only a couple feet of snow in the trees and less out in the open so I wasn't even thinking about avalanche danger.
Had my beacon in the handlebar bag not even on.
The hillsides got wind loaded really good with no base to hold the snow. I will take more care next time out for sure.

You would be amazed how many don't have beacons up there, its not likely to get buried and I don't think anyone has ever been buried up there but it could still happen.

Beacons are WORTHLESS if they are not WORN, TURNED ON, and accompanied by other riders who KNOW HOW TO USE THEM.
