Goes to show, you can never be too careful. There was only a couple feet of snow in the trees and less out in the open so I wasn't even thinking about avalanche danger.:der: Had my beacon in the handlebar bag not even on.:frusty: The hillsides got wind loaded really good with no base to hold the snow. I will take more care next time out for sure.

Your brave riding up there this early, rocks everywhere. Where exactly is that,

I'm guessing right about here, maybe not but it looks familiar.

About 25 miles (as a crow flies) south and east of there.

Only hit one rock:face-icon-small-hap

You would be amazed how many don't have beacons up there, its not likely to get buried and I don't think anyone has ever been buried up there but it could still happen.

Ho Lee Crap! Glad you are OK. Were you alone? Thanks for posting, really good heads up for the rest of us.

Well.
I wonder if this officially qualifies you as THE FIRST AVALANCHE RIDER of the season?

Glad you didn't get hurt, or worse.

Beacons are WORTHLESS if they are not WORN, TURNED ON, and accompanied by other riders who KNOW HOW TO USE THEM.

I will definately be wearing my beacon every time out now.
