First Pro RMK ride - pretty impressed

Got to demo a Pro RMK 155" today. I was pretty impressed.
I ride a 2009 Ski Doo XP X 163", first year riding that sled and I would have to say that it has been the best sled that I have ever ridden. I buy and sell a sled every year just to ride something different and always looking for the perfect sled for me.

Our riding style. We are only boondockers. Our riding style is to cover as many back country lakes, ridge saddles, and miles as possible in the McCall area. We never stop at a bowl and hammer it for hours, that is just not our style.

Ok, the Pro is a wonderful boondocking sled. Good smooth power and so easy to handle. Effortless sidehilling, easy to lay over, able to ride harder for a longer period of time.
Power was a little less than what I expected. I am use to hitting the gas hard and feeling it in the grips of my hands and tensioning of my neck muscles. Not so much on the Pro. (Could it be regeared, possibly) I am not saying that it hurt the performance, it is just a different feel. But what did surprise me was climbing. Most sleds start a climb with so much speed and lose 3/4 of that speed by the time they reach the top. The Pro would start the climb with less initial speed but only lose 1/4 of the speed by the time it reached the top. So more control at the bottom and still out climbing the other sleds.

My 2 cents. I understand why you hear so many conflicting stories on this sled. For our style of riding it was a perfect 10, better than my XP or my buddies new M8. But if you are into the biggest stock power rush, then you might be a little disappointed.
Thanks Greg at Hinsons Power Sports in McCall for the ride.

Thanks for the good honest review. That is the same concensus that our group of xp's, m-series, and pros have come to. I had a xp riding partner switch sleds for a day with my pro and he wouldnt give it back. Sounds like he will be snochecking a pro this year.

Thanks for the review. Now I have to look into getting a demo ride on the Pro.

love mine more everytime i ride it!!! we are boondockers also and this sled flat out works in the trees. will carve up, down, sideways and everywhere inbetween:) will pull lines that i would have never even considered on my M. floats soooooo well, thing just does not want to stop.

if you get tired while carving just stop and take a break, no problem:)

I get to ride one tomoro. Ive been riding an xp for the last few years. And so far, i thought nothing would outhandle one. I was so confident in the xp, but after reading this i cant wait to try a pro. I just sold my sled so im for anything now. Most likely be a pro though.

You'll regain some of that "power feel" in the grips with good clutching, It makes quite a difference.

the power is also different with the pro...it is so smooth and linear it doesnt feel like other sleds...but that doesnt mean it isnt pulling as hard.....it also makes a big difference in power if it is thru the breakin chip and has the non ethanol resistor in it..and it seems that the sled keeps making more power as it gets miles on it up to around the 350-400 mile mark...
