Got to demo a Pro RMK 155" today. I was pretty impressed.
I ride a 2009 Ski Doo XP X 163", first year riding that sled and I would have to say that it has been the best sled that I have ever ridden. I buy and sell a sled every year just to ride something different and always looking for the perfect sled for me.
Our riding style. We are only boondockers. Our riding style is to cover as many back country lakes, ridge saddles, and miles as possible in the McCall area. We never stop at a bowl and hammer it for hours, that is just not our style.
Ok, the Pro is a wonderful boondocking sled. Good smooth power and so easy to handle. Effortless sidehilling, easy to lay over, able to ride harder for a longer period of time.
Power was a little less than what I expected. I am use to hitting the gas hard and feeling it in the grips of my hands and tensioning of my neck muscles. Not so much on the Pro. (Could it be regeared, possibly) I am not saying that it hurt the performance, it is just a different feel. But what did surprise me was climbing. Most sleds start a climb with so much speed and lose 3/4 of that speed by the time they reach the top. The Pro would start the climb with less initial speed but only lose 1/4 of the speed by the time it reached the top. So more control at the bottom and still out climbing the other sleds.
My 2 cents. I understand why you hear so many conflicting stories on this sled. For our style of riding it was a perfect 10, better than my XP or my buddies new M8. But if you are into the biggest stock power rush, then you might be a little disappointed.
Thanks Greg at Hinsons Power Sports in McCall for the ride.
