First Polaris Turbo

Here are some pics. The HM kit went in clean and easy. It runs perfectly everywhere, but has a pop on the top end like a bad plug. It will pop if slightly lean or slightly rich, so I am thinking the plugs must be bad. The previous kit I had on there did cause the sled to be pig rich in the bottom end.

what plugs? I would assume the irridiums? you might try both the champions(N57YCC?)or the stock NGK's (BR9ES?) and also tighten the gap a bit....now..how does the turbo compare to stock?does it feel less nimble? less ridable in the tight stuff? and how does the pro compare to other turbo sleds? such as nitro's and cats? will it hang in the big stuff or is it underpowered?

The stock plugs are BPR9ES and we gapped them to .025.
The Chassis is really nice to ride. I love the Racers Edge skid too.

We will have this sled at Yamafest in Revy next week, so we will see how it compares with our Yammies.

0.025 sounds wide, I was thinking some of the guys were tightening the gaps up as tight as 0.016.....just something to try...but I know on the dragons alot of guys ran the iridiums with the turbo's.....looking forward to a full ride report on it.....

spark plugs

I would suggest the NGK iridium br9eix plugs set at .020. That is what we have been running in our 08 800 dragon with the BD PG kit. The more boost and race gas you run the more you will have to change them. If you are running 12 - 14 psi boost with lots of race gas you could have to change them every 2 - 3 rides. It defiantly makes a difference.

Turbo

Is that a 3" camo?

Looks nice.

I run a 174 x 3" on my pro, it is very impressive for stock motor, just keeps going.

Let us know how it works.

Nice sled

Nice sled
It is a 3x162. It has a Avid chaincase and drivers, stock gearing, and Racers Edge skid with adjustable magnetic coupling blocks.
It will be interesting to see how it compares to a 240 hp Nytro. I would like to run 10-12 lbs boost. We don't mind running race fuel, as we already run it in our Yammies.

Stock vs. HM Kit

Less nible? That seems to be a pretty frequent question. I have two Pros, one with HM's kit on it and the other I left stock. My wife rides the stock one most of the time but its always fun to jump back on it and see the differences. There is no difference in the way the sled feels or handles with the kit on it. I have ridden them both in the same areas on the same days so its an apples to apples comparison. As far as power and reliability, I wouldn't own anything else. I have ridden the cats and had a kit on a 2009 Dragon. My Pro feels stronger at 7 lbs than by Dragon did at 11.

Too bad you won't be anywhere close to Lolo Pass in Montana this coming weekend. HM Turbos is holding its second annual Turbo Days where this sleds will be available to ride. Then you would know for yourself that these will not only hang in the big stuff but it sets a new standard. As for the tight stuff, here is a couple of videos of my sled under those conditions.

I'm planning to come up there early. Have to be back home by 12:30...

is this a water to air intercooled HM kit with your boost it fuel injection kit?is there a cold air intake on the turbo?didthe aerocharger help with the flooding issues you had with the previous kit(2860?)

Yes it is the HM kit with water to air. the turbo intake just has a screen on it for now, but we have unlimited airflow at this point.

The sled runs perfectly now in the bottom end. The other turbo seemed too restrictive. In all fairness though, the other turbo was a Garrett knock off chinese junk and the impeller did not turn as free as our actual Garrett turbos.

I am looking forward to comparing it to the Yammies this weekend.

throw a 2871 reall garrett on it.. im betting you would thourilly enjoy it!!

get some video's up.. im curious to see how the two smokes like boost it.. makes me want to slap it on my dads poorly tuned m7 turbo thats in need of more injector action to let us crank the boost up.
