rode mine for the first time this weekend on a couple of feet of fresh. first impression was how comfy it was on the trail (sitting or standing). i'm still stock for now, but even on a tight motor the low end is as good as my apex for the first few hundred feet. in the pow, it is, by far, the most effortless sled i've ever thrown around. totally forgiving and super responsive. we had a new XP-X package out, some M8s, and an M1000 and we all took turns on each others machines. everyone wanted to sell their sleds and get the nytro...i'm not kidding. i rode the XP-X 154" and really liked it. it doesn't roll over as easy as the Nytro but it felt really solid and had good power (again, with a motor that isn't broken in yet.)
the stock shocks on the Nytro, like the Apex, are to soft for the front end weight and roll on off-camber turns on the trail. i tightened the springs down as much as possible which helped, but fox floats are on the way. Yamaha should have just shipped the Nytro with those anyway and charged a little more for the sled IMO. the only other knock is the 7 gallon fuel tank. i did get a 62 mile ride in on sunday and barely made it back to the truck but did no hillclimbing due to thin snow. also, the sled does need boost if you're going to be serious about hillclimbing. totally stock, it is the funnest sled i've ever owned but kicking it up to 200+ on the ponies is a must for me.
two thumbs and a woody way up (to quote veedy).
what else have you guys heard, seen or felt?
