The avalanche report was moderate yesterday as well, but the concern was less yesterday than today...........
I did check the advisory morning of, and did take time to observe conditions generally before climbing yesterday. I did not dig a snow pit, but several of the rangers were up there and after a good conversation with them and what we had experienced throughout the day, I felt comfortable doing it.
There were some slopes and chutes that we did avoid, that area we were in was probably the safest there was for us considering the conditions. Was there risk??? You bet, but there always is.........There will be the same risk the rest of the season sometimes higher, sometimes lower. We did watch runout areas and all were wearing beacons and shovels and probes and all knew how to use them. Some of the other hills that were facing more to the sun that had good size roller balls coming down, we avoided but all in all it was a great day.
