First Chick over Monster (cont)

Personally......don't want to try it in cement snow. I "might" have the sled to get it done......but the risk is far too great. Kudos for givin' it hell but not for this cowboy. Maybe it's because I've rolled my sled down Monster when it was 2-3ft deep......of course I wasn't anywhere near the top let alone barely at the rocks.....but that's enough for me to only want to try it when there's some POW!
I climb in the spring and made Turbo my first time(long time ago) in the spring....wasn't content till there was 2ft+ on it and made it that I finally felt like I made it.....my brother is exactly the opposite....rubs it in that he took his leafblower up there and made it in June. Which is fine, don't get me wrong, he made it, but it was never enough for me just to make it in hero snow. Anyone else feel the same way?

Congrats on the attempt, I'm sure a "bettie" will make it this year(I'd say Amy "Danger" Bargenski would get it done but Cale informs me she's going to be a little slow going this coming winter....And it's all Cale's fault I might add) You girls got more cajones than I do.

I've never cared for hero snow either...like you, risk factor for me is just too much.

What fun is it if theres no risk? How do you keep your heart pumping? The snow was pretty darn soft when she pulled on the monster. keep it up Skadi your in unchartered territory.:face-icon-small-hap

Wait, so now let me see if this is right

Em has Big Jugs which makes her skirt fail....but she has big Balls?

Man this thread is getting nasty

The risk is having to put the sled away for a year because I can't afford to fix it. Is it worth not sledding for a hero snow climb? Nope.

I wouldn't say hero snow requires more skill, a different skill-set yes. Bigger balls, you bet.....can also be called something else but momma always said.....

Its all about machine and snow....turbo over the top in June, cool...turbo over the top in deep pow, awesome.....old phazer over the top anytime....impossible.....someone prove me wrong?

I was refering to Turbo Hill with the fancooled sled.
And it wasn't even a Phazer. '99 Z440 Snopro Leafblower. 141x2.25 and under 390lbs. 100lb 12 year old on it in June. Of course he ain't doin' it in deep pow, but that's the point. What fun is it if a 440 fan can blow over the top in June. I'd much rather let my skill level shine and show that I can muscle a sled that shouldn't get to those places, get to those places. That's why Micku stunned everyone on his Bikeman 880 over Monster and when the turbo's hit it, people are stunned when they don't make it. Why is that? All I'm saying is that it's a different skill-set to ride in Pow and in hero snow. Not bashing one or the other, in fact I mentioned the "betties" have bigger ones than I do because I would not point my sled up Monster in hero snow. I did, and will continue to do so when it can roll 100 times and still be rideable and not leave me on the hook. That's all.
All the power to the girls....don't know why my comments caused the responses it did.
Ever ride a 600 and pound a hill time and time again to finally make it. Bet you had more fun than your buddy who took one run and blew over the top.

Al knew what I was talking about. And I know he's climbed Monster before too. Al, would you climb her in June or would you rather Feb/March/April when we have some cush?

It's a great accomplishment to climb and conquer any hill in any conditions, PERSONALLY, it means more when the sled is the limiting factor and my skill has to take me over.

Hero snow sucks for sure, and will make a guy or gal squeez twinkies, it will do. IMO pulling that chute in the spring might have another motive, the sled you ride might not pull it in deep powder, and for me it would be the accomplishment of making that pull no matter what conditions are. Do it when you know your sled should can make it. I agree in hero snow there is less room for error. Keep it up ladies!!!

Just my two penny's

not sure since I wasn't there but I haven't heard the snow on that day called hero snow. In fact I do believe some guys on powerful sleds flat out said their sleds didn't have the power on the day Em went. Something about absolute soggy, mushy mashed tator POWER ROBBING snow.

Again I wasn't there, just what I recall hearing and that is all paraphrased.

No worries Reeb, I got cha!! I wasn't offended at all and I hear ya... taking a sled up and over something in hero snow is a different scene for sure. There is no way in HECK I could get my sled up over Monster on a deep day. i sure would rather have had some deep snow but with an 860 it just wasn't going to happen. Granted, i do some climbing in the deep snow but what I do isn't going to be impressive enough with all the big bad 4 stroke turbos out there... Plus, I really was a bit goal oriented with Monster this year and I really wanted that bad boy even though I know an 860 over the top even in hero snow is pretty rough to do....

To me hero snow brings a whole new element... some good some bad. The 'carnage factor' as I like to call it goes WAY up with that spring riding where you go up anything and come down it even faster and things can go TERRIBLY wrong in a heartbeat, gotta love how spring snow does that to ya!! pow is just a little different, brings a different scene for sure, a whole different challenge.... Granted there are certain climbs that I feel little skill to accomplish in spring snow and those I generally don't get too excited about. But then there are other ones that I would be STOKED to claim even if it's in 'go anywhere snow' (which apparently the go anywhereness of that snow was in question that day!! hahahahaha)

anyway, no worries on the comments, I knew what cha meant!! (and thanks for the support those of you who were there, can't wait for next year!!)
