Finger Throttle options?

wingnut or others

Hey buddy Ive essentially asked Andrew the "munster man" to put me on the contact list for the first one to hit the market at the end of January.......I will post availability when I hear whats up. The design looks tasty to me :)....... I chatted with a couple doo guys I don't personally know via internet but it seems they are digging the design on the doo's.

Bout time you guys got it figured out :face-icon-small-win

Best mod I've ever done.

I've tried a bunch of styles flipped around.
Just for kicks.
All the flipped thumb throttles swing an arc and force your hand position to move over.
Or end up in a two fingered pinned throttle panic moment.

The munster is the first design i have seen that looks more like a strait pull to the bar.

I wanna try one.

How do you bypass the TSS? when you are switching to a finger throttle.

Two choices; Unplug it and install the correct Ohm resistor, or ty-wrap / tape it compressed and stuff in in the the connector bag under the hood. Same as when you run any throttle block other than stock. You are highly encouraged to run a tether when disabling / eliminating the TSS.

Throttle pointing straight down

I have been riding this way for 10 years. When I am on the right side of the machine I use my index finger. I stand up about 80% of my ride. When I am setting down I use my lefty or my thumb to run the throttle. It works real well for me. No one like to ride my sled. That is ok with me.

Just got my Munster throttle in the mail yesterday for my T3! So excited to try it out, will report back after a few rides! with shipping and $ conversion it was about $155 (U.S. $) w/ shipping to the U.S. and it shipped on Dec 28, received Jan 8th.

Here's a setup I used on a Cat M8.

Just like before, it's the cable pull that's kind of a limiting factor for what's going to work. The lefty block is about half the price of that munster one but not as gucci looking obviously.

Do any of you guys with the munster know what the cable pull is (as in total inches)? The lefty one worked out perfectly on a cat throttle body from idle to WOT without too much lateral swing. The munster having the pivot in front of the bar should have a better ergonomic swing but I'd be curious to know what the pull is between the doo and the cat and poo.

The goldfingers feel great but don't pull enough cable. The mountain bike levers I tried didn't either.

munster

read down a bit regarding the munster if u like they will be available at the end of January for the Polaris the skidoo guys love it as it is available for doo only at this time. I also have turned the block and it difficult to get the full throttle effect smoothly for most. apparently the doo munster guys say this is corrected?

Here is an email I got from Andrew at Munster today...

The polaris throttles will be about $10 more than the skidoo ones. Shipping will be about $17 to anywhere in the US. So total cost will be about $187.00 all in.

Thanks,

He also said they will be available for purchase in about two weeks.

So with today's exchange rate that is $150.25 US. Very doable, IMO

I'll get a few ordered up for the mid-Feb release.

Don't do it unless you are a trail rider. Far too dangerous going through the trees. I have so many guys telling me about their horror stories and why they now want a Cordless Teth-Air or Phantom Teth-Air. This can only cause a whole bunch of new problems when branches mash the throttle.

Teth-Air.... I see where you're coming from.

Most of the Mountain sleds with finger throttles I've seen have the throttle facing just slightly forward of directly down... which makes it difficult for throttle to get mashed on trees

Thoughts??

It seems a hand gaurd could prevent that. Teth air, do you have problems in the trees from branches hitting your brake lever?

I've been riding this way for 10 ish years no hand guards. Like MH says, with the angle downward it's not been a problem, for me at least. The only problem I've had is wet snow packing up in between the flipper and block. When I let off after stabbing the throttle I was unpleasantly surprised at the fact that it was still WTFO! Luckily I had a tether and bailed off. I now run handguards and have had good luck since. Can't wait for this new product. Long overdue IMO.

It may be better if its more down than forward but as you pass over tree branches they may bend under the bars and again mash on the throttle. The manufacturers all brag about easy throttle pulls these days, is this really a good thing? I don't think it always is. A really solid hand guard might be a better idea for guys insisting on trying these forward throttles.

We HAVE gone over the bars from that but it is rare as it take much more force than the throttle.

A good finger throttle

Due to having a thumb with no ligaments on the inside from old injuries I was very interested in the possibilities of using a finger throttle.
I went ahead and got the Munster Throttle which fit a SkiDoo and then machined up a spacer to give the throttle full travel for my Pro .
My conclusion from testing this setup is that while I wouldn't recommend it for a novice rider I greatly prefer it to the thumb throttle.
The level of quality is high and as soon as these are available Happy Face will have them in stock.
