Finally broke the 40 MPH track speed wall!

So, after trying countless springs, weights and helix's i finally got my Axys to 41 MPH track speed.

He's what i have done to achieve this.

2016 Axys with a Camso 174, 2.8. with Avid 3" pitch drivers. The track is not as tight as Polaris specs but still got good tenstion on it. 48 hr's on the motor and 780 miles. Compression is right at 122 psi per cylinder.

I put the Pro RMK gears on for a cheap gear down.
Jaws pipe and MBRP Trail can.
Stright 40 helix with Black/Purple spring (160-240) with 2 derlin washers.
10-64 weights with a Pro Rmk spring. (140-330) and 2 thrust washers.
Shellbourne fuel additive with Shell 91 with no ethonal and in no ethonal mode.

8500-8550 RPM with 41mph track speed

I ride at 6000-6500 feet.

The sled just rips. I had a few guys ask what turbo i was running. opened the side panel and they were shocked. If your running a smaller track you will need to use 10-66 weights.

The Shellbourne additive made a huge difference and was necessary to get over the 40 mph wall. Sled runs almost 10-11 degrees cooler and helps a lot with the Jaws pipe. The sled normally runs at 128-129 degrees, now it runs at 117-119. I cant wait to try there oil as it is supposed to work with the fuel additive. But i have a bunch of GOLD VES that i need to use up first.

Im not sure if the cooler running temps is allowing the ECU to add timing, but the motor makes a sound 8500 that is hard to describe. It just sounds so on the pipe... if that makes any sense.

what's your opinion on the jaws pipe? noticeable difference?

yeah once you change to the pro cogs it wacks the speedo a bit, however these sled do work very very well with the clutches you are running, if you go to a 56-40 .36 helix and a heavy heel weight it will have even better bottom end

It was on a track dyno. And the company is on here sells clutching. I'm not naming them, don't want to start a pissing match. But if you know who has a track dyno and sells clutching you will figure it out. I even put my stock can back on after it was getting very loud (bmp trail) and picked up 200 rpm.

I'm also running the 56-40.36 at 10,000 ft along with black/purple secondary spring, blue/pink primary and 10-60 weights, this set up works very well and very efficient, clutches look perfect! Pull 8300 rpm's. Geared down to 2.42 with 8 tooth drives and have extra venting. If I was to have a helix cut it would probable be a 48-40.36 because the 56 does pull really hard on the initial shift but can create more belt heat.

Has anybody else ran octane boost or race fuel with there slightly modded Axys? Is the computer correcting the timing better with more octane to improve performance? Seems like it made quite the improvement for his sled.

I run 94 with the jaws pipe, head and porting. But my squash is a bit tighter, and compression bumped up a bit.

yup my set up cept for the MTX weights, its near the best we can get I think

Have u had ur speedo recalibrated to account for the geardown?

I didn't get it recalibrate as i changed the driver size as well. The 7 tooth 3" pitch drivers are 21" in diameter. Where my 7 tooth 2.86" pitch was 20.02 " in diameter. The gear gown i did was just a cheap fix. The Pro RMK gears are 1 tooth smaller on the top gear gear and one tooth larger on the bottom. So with the larger drivers and slight gear down I don't think my speedo is off my much.

You went from a 2.23 ratio to a lower 2.38 ratio, that is about a 6.73% lower gear ratio. At 40 mph that would be about 2.7 mph slower.

need to take into account both changes, track pitch and final drive ratio.

2.23/2.86=0.78

2.38/3.0=0.793

.793/.78=1.7%

40mph*1.017= 40.7mph

Would anyone want to explain this thread to a DUMB A$$ flatlander. (Here or PM)
I must be missing something
Track Speed? == Land speed? Speedometer reading?
