I am helping a buddy fix his sled (2004 skidoo summit 800) and the problem was that the sled wouldn't idle, backfires a little, and is very boggy.
I took a look at it and the reed boots were delaminated and the carbs were dirty. I replaced the reed boots and cleaned the carbs and now the sled idles good and seems to not backfire anymore. But when the engine is under load it seems to still bog down. For example when the sled is idleing when i go to snap the throttle is delays then slowely goes up to 4000 rpm and then revs as normal. Anything above 3000rpm when you snap the throttle it has great response as normal but anything below 3000rpm it is bogs down.
Also when i checked the compression it shows 180psi in both cylinders. I have a good mac tools compression gauge that is reliable and i trust. Is 180psi to high? if so what could be causing this?
thanks for the help in advance
