Feel like a jerk

Here's One

Sweetie bought me a four wheeler for Christmas from a buddy of mine. She paid him $4000 cash. Said he would get her the title in the next week or so. Well, he killed himself and a week later a repo man showed up and wanted the bank's four wheeler.

Dude shouldn't feel too bad about getting a used sled with a dinged up A arm. At least he's still got the sled.

I wish Phil Yribar (an active 4m member "acs47x") was a stand up guy like yourself!:D:beer;

I bought his M1000 over the summer and he assured me that this sled was a ripper and was in running operation at the end of last season and not to worry about buying a sled in the middle of summer and not being able to ride it till this year.

I told him I didn't like the idea! He reassured me everything was good!

Well...... Got it in the shop to fix the small problems it was known to have and this thing ended up being a pile of chit!!!! I'm not exaggerating!! The pile of chit was beat down to the point I'm very sure it did not run like he swore it did! and I have ended up replacing damn near every single part on it! The biggest thing was the DD was toast and the secondary was also toast!

So.... I PM Phil and tell him what I found and that I was NOT happy to say the least! He comes back with "So what?"

Ask me what I think of Phil now!

PHIL YRIBAR IS A HUGE DISHONEST DOUCHE!

SO DONT FEEL TO BAD ABOUT A LITTLE A ARM!

Just found out it wasn't a piston it was the crank. A doo with crank problems. Imagine that. No "r" stamped on motor so they gave me the same crappy motor again. I might just have to buy the sled back or a motor. I just feel wrotten about the whole deal. I guess I'll see what doo will do.

Not to jack this thread...but want everyone to know what a stand up guy Terry is. I am Ryans brother, and you surely didn't have to do all you did, but in the end I think you made it right and then some. Big props to you!!!

Terry Vanderhagen (turboless terry) is a stand up guy. Bought the sled from him knowing the sled was used, but went 8 miles and toasted the crank. Contacted him to let him know not thinking a whole lot but he contacted Summit Motor Sports in Bozeman and they are getting me a new motor. I can't say enough about Terry and Cash at Summit Motor Sports...you guys are awesome.

When I bought my 03 Escape used, first ride out it was ratcheting horribly. Did some research on SW and pulled the speedo drive off to find a trashed driveshaft bearing and shaft (common problem on the Poo). I called the owner and told him about it, and that it would be about $300 to fix it. He sent me a check for the parts, I replaced them all, and life was good.
I'd say you didn't do wrong by the buyer, crap happens. Buy him an a-arm and call it good if it makes you feel better about it.

YA i did the same thing today, messed up my sled because it was ratcheting and tried to tighten the track and when i took off it plowed the drive shaft like 5 inches back and messed it all up.

I think it is buyer beware. If you want a warranty and are not mechanically inclined, buy a new sled. How many of us would swear right now our sleds are in great mechanical shape? Some will break on the next ride. It happens. I wouldn't even call the guy on a bent A-arm. I really should catch that myself. I don't think he is pulling a fast one on the guy.
I'd like to buy a 3 year old sled with a warranty for 4000.00 all day. Trouble is it doesn't work that way.

I checked over my own sled this fall. Did compression test, checked crank runout and took the Y-pipe off to look at pistons. When everything checked out I thought to myself that a good season was in store for me. I made it 20 miles and the crank broke in half. Used is used and you never really know what could happen. I see that you did not try to intentionally hide any thing so only offer to help him if you feel that you should but try not to lose sleep over it.

Damn hard to predict a motor going down . BUYER BEWARE . If I could predict burn downs it would have saved me many a tow job . .

X2, I AGREE, About sums it up.
