For anyone that's interested, next weekend we are going to ride into Thousand Springs Valley and head over to Garns Mountain.

Most of the guys that I ride with are currently enjoying the sand and sun in the lovely regions of Iraq.

So I am looking for anyone that would like to go along. One of my buddies has only been in there once and wants to go again.

Who's in?

Come on Chris, you know you want to.
It's practically behind your house.

We are meeting at the National Guard Armory on 7th South in Rexburg.
9 AM. Heading up to the Moody Parking lot from there.
Going to Red Butte, drop into Thousand Springs, Play around and head over to Garns Mountain.

Already had several people respond with interest. Just giving everyone the details on where and when to meet.

Leave your sleds at home and take a 4-wheeler. Snow is hard enough to dribble a basketball.

Well we had about 3 inches of fresh powder. It was enough to keep things cool and the slides lubed. Underneath though it was definitely hero snow. You could go any where you pointed your sled.

Had a good ride with Advantage801 and his family and some of my riding buddies.
57 miles of fun and playing.

Thanks Rex for the good time.

You guys should have gone to Island Park.
We found PLENTY of GOOD snow up on top of the mountain!
We were very surprised at just how nice it turned out to be.
Pulled into Big Springs Warming Hut parking lot and had 6 inches of fresh.
and the higher we rode the better it got all day long!

We had a great ride. It started out pretty foggy but just about the time we got to the trees it all lifted.
All of the off trail in Thousand Springs had plenty of places to play but we could definitely use a good storm. Fresh fluffy is always good.

Besides going to the same place all the time gets kinda boring.

I suppose that day may come at some point.
But right now, I can go there every weekend and still find BRAND NEW places I have never ridden

For me, Island Park is the gift that just keeps on giving!!:face-icon-small-hap

New Riding area

IP is a very interesting place to ride. You can find anything and everything to challenge any skill level of rider there. Sometimes within several miles of each other.

East of US 20 is alot flatter and easier to ride with lots of open rolling hills, tree coverd areas, meadows to play in and miles of trails.

Go West of US 20 and you have some pretty good boondocking with big hills, drainages, cornices and tree lined technical climbs in there. Hell Roaring and Mount J have stuff that will even challenge some good running turbos. If you know where you are going and are a bit selective you can still take riders that aren't experts in there though.

I enjoy Island Park but I also try to go to other areas and get to one new area I havent ridden in before every year.

I suppose once I have risen to the ability to take in all that Island Park has to offer I will be ready to go hunting for greener pastures as well.

But for now, I am enjoying only my 2nd real serious season of riding, and still feel like I have just scratched the surface of that place.

With 40 miles north to south and nearly 30 miles east to west, the place is just HUGE.
