Fasttrax rear spring mod?

I have a 2010 T800 Assault with ALOT of rear sag! I know everyone says to change the springs to the bigboy springs but i want to try to modify the springs i have now before I spend the $$$. Can anyone tell me how to do this mod and if it works well enough to not have to buy springs? Thanks alot.

Fastrax recommends drilling the rear scissor 5/8" center to center to the rear of the rail. Not sure if this is the mod you are referring to or not.

Hey guys,
I did my springs from Fastrax and moved back the rear scissor arm and it works better and no more sagging. and it's cheap.

I just changed my springs on my '10 Dragon 800 155, I didn't do the fatboy springs, but I put in the .359/44 or 47 degree springs. this keeps it the same diameter spring as stock, but gets rid of all sag. I have it on the softest setting.

I don't know about the big boy springs, but my rear end sags alot! T is for turbo yes. :) I did the mod, which after talking to Curt found out that it is 3/4" for the assault. Now I am waiting for him to get some more springs in and I will try that next. Anybody want to buy a set of Walker Evans rear shocks? I might be looking into an upgrade :) Fresh charge on em!

Did the Fastrax mod plus installed the 375 47deg springs this weekend. I now have the torsions set on the softest. The rear suspension has much more response now and the rear sag is like it should be now.

I did the rear arm move back and medium boy springs last year and noticed a big difference! It didn't fix all the issues with the rear suspension, but I nicknamed it the "Poor Girl Suspension" for those of us who could not (or choose not to) afford the better shocks and/or aftermarket suspension. ei it did a good job. :thumb:

When you move the scissor back it puts it at more of a 90 degree angle and puts more preload on the stock springs. The stock springs suck so they need all the help they can get.

Hope this helps.

Roger on the poor boy mods Coyote, soo I'm thinking of replacing my rear rear shock with a custom valved Zbros from Fastrax... what say you as far as improvement?

Snoboy, I have rear EXIT shocks on the way and hopefully springs from Fastrax. Give me a week and i will give you a report. Everyone I have talked to says it behaves like a different sled with new springs and shocks. I can only hope right? :)

Thanks highmarkco, I appreciate that. So you'll have a new Zbros rear shock and new torsion springs correct? Are you gonna move the scissors back 5/8inch?

sno

Yeah, new exit shocks in the rear skid. new torsion springs from fastraxx, and i allready moved the scissor back. Rode yesterday with just the scissor moved and it seem to be quite a bit more responsive with the skis off the ground and digging the track in on a sidehill.
