Fastrax and Power Addiction

A shout out to Fastrax for doing the Power Addiction 12.5 head on my 11' pro. It was the best mod I could have done, pulls like crazy now. And a shout to Power Addiction for providing the head.
Thanks,
MM

ditto

I would also like to give a HUGE thanks to Fastrax. The porting on my cylinder looks awesome. The whole package of the porting, head, pipe combo and PCV fuel map has made a completely different sled out of the Pro. I will be able to see the real gains when I get my 71 gram MTX's loaded up so I don't hit the rev limiter! The motor work with the Avid chaincase has made my 11 pro an extremely fun sled to ride.

Did you have to add any clutch weight?

Just put my 12.5 pa head this weekend as well. And the answer is yes. I added weight, and still need to add more. The biggest thing is the crisp instant throttle respone. It's like having a carb sled again, but not having to tune them! Best of both worlds.

great thread... great info..

have a PA head coming on its way.. hope to have it put on this weekend.

did u guys put all new orings and seals on when u put the new head on??

I had zero miles on my 12 and reused all orings, also put on a PA head and Carls clutch kit and it runs excellent except too many rrrrs , I want to change out the 60 weights to 62s per F-bomb . Called Chris at carls and he gave me a real song and dance that it is not overreving cause the rev limiter is not until 8900 or so ,hahaha I call B s,,, this sled definitely runs better at 7950- 8000. Needless to say he wuold not exchange the weights .Poor custumer service if you ask me!!!

90% of the time, you can re-use the head o-rings. Clean and inspect for cracks, evidence of pinching etc. I like to give light coat of grease on them so they don't "roll" when putting the head on . The grease also acts as a primer (to a lesser degree). I have re-used the same o-rings up to 4-5 times on head swaps.

Many times, folks can pinch the o-ring(s) when installing the head. Lining up the holes will require slight movement of the head and the grease lets the head slide and not pick up the o-ring out of the groove and pinch it. Pinching results in coolant leaking inside, outside or both of the motor. Burning coolant in the cylinder too long can take out bearings. (don't ask me how I know about rod bearings being taken out by burning coolant....)

thanks for the info.

what did u have to do for adding weight??? how many grams more?

I didn't change my weights from the stock setup here for Washington. I think they are 10-64's, but I did buy a set of 10-66's just in case. So far so good with the 12.5 head and 92 octane no over revving and runs great.

No power commander needed and no map. We are usually riding in the 3-6000' range. Curt at fastrax said it would run great here in Washington and even if we were at 8-10,000' it would still run better than stock.

I'm using Fastrax map on the PCV. Since I've known Curt for a long time I had absolutely no problem going with his recomendation on what I should run for my location. What I listed is exactly what he recomended for me. Fastrax does their own fuel mapping for their porting etc. If you call them I am sure he can give you some ideas of exactly what he thinks you should run. What I considered the best part of this package was that everything works with the stock can with no problems, I'm tired of a loud mod sled.

Thanks for the reply mntmaster. Are you using the dynoport pipe and y? Where are you located and what elevations do you ride? Yes, Kurt has been very helpful. Running same setup minus the porting and w/ 68g mtx. Randy

Yes I'm running the Dynoport high volume Y and pipe. I started with 68 polaris weights and I was hitting the rev limiter just about every time I grabbed a handful. I ride anywhere from 500 ft to 3500 or so. I was riding around 1000 ft or so when I was hitting the rev limiter. I ordered some 71 MTX weights and plan on loading them up with 3 grams to start out with.

dynaport exhaust

Im running full dynaport exhaust on 11 pro,y-pipe,pipe,can,ceramic coated
NO fuel controller,9-10,000 ft.,it runs real strong, great mid-range to end
power, kept 60 weights in,runs 8150-max 8200,has never hit det sensor ,fit+finish are perfect,no head work as thats when problems arise w/running
head w/this setup, has more balls than most sleds, minus turbos of course, also have big intake,+well vented
