Farmington

12-16

As Pastor said, it was deep with no base. Rocks were easily uncovered, but it was fun. You still have to be careful off of the trail. Getting around the gate was by far the hardest part. Another good storm and it will be great.

Is there actually places to ride snowmobiles up farmington? I thought that canyon was closed altogether. I hear it's the last place to ever find any good snow conditions.

There breaking the law going up farmington. It is closed to the public. Stay out very dangerous. Go to the Uintahs, or monte or even bountiful but not farmington. :D
What law they are actually breaking is talking about it. The faa and air force tried to lock Us out of the canyon a few years ago due to the how popular the canyon was becoming. The faa's problem is people parking all over road, scouts digging snow caves into the banks that the blower has cut at the top. People going up in their honda accords and getting stuck. So if you go please either park at the bottom where the asphalt ends or lower down or go all the way to sunset or up to the gate. Stay out of the faa's plows way they do not like Us. They feel without them the road would drift in and be unusable so they should be able to close the road at the bottom.
Especially be prepared at the bottom when you go around the corner where the rock is, the road goes from perfectly dry to a ice skating rink in one second. Get in four wheel drive right at the bottom. Many a nice truck has earned many dents in this canyon. If there is any snow on the road ride from the bottom, skags are cheap trucks aren't. Oh and please do not bring big enclosed 4 places. Or just go to monte. It's a fun place to sled for a few hours but the road can be dangerous.

I was in Utah a few years back & I'm planning another trip this year. Love it out there!!

Is Farmington where the road has a hundred switcbacks up to the top?

If so, we tried to pull a 4 place up that sucker... didn't make it. that road sucks!! Steep as h@ll & the weather turned to crap about the 20th switchback. I've the area is incredible. I know when we started up the mountain, it was raining... 15 mins later we were 5000 feet higher & there was 8 inches of snow & we were still climbing.
Thank goodness for the one switchbach that had enough room to turn around!
BTW.. the sheriffs didn't like us very well either. They had to back down about 1/2 a mile so we could get by them. LOL!

have fun playing in the deep pow!!
