Farmington

Anybody been up farmington?

We drove up to the gates yesterday and there was about 6" there. I know the snow level can change dramatically up there with elevation.

Anybody been up high to see?

I just came down from Bntfl we drove in to about the pumpkin patch Not really anything at all up there.

I cant believe you drove all the way to the pumpkin patch. You should be parking at Bucklin this time of year. Let us know when it is good up there i need to go hit ping pong and the waterfall, its been years since have rode up there. Just curious if the couch is still there?

I went up FC a few weeks ago. It was kinda crazy going around the gate to Btfl. the road was ok but up on top all east and north facing slopes were covered with about 3 inches of ice and on the way back down we saw one crazy loud snowhawk.

Went up Farmington on the 4th, then again last night to do some testing. We went up towards Bountiful Peak, the top had between 1 and 3 feet in places. There was enough snow up on top to get off the trail in a few spots, but you still need to be real careful. Lots of rocks showing, and its almost bare in some windblown spots.
Moon was almost full now, so it was really light out.

I think I was probably the snowhawk you saw.

Hey guys,
My first post here on snowest.
I live in Fruit Heights and would like some info on Farmington.

Where is the best parking for riding there.
Looking art Googlearth, it looks like a small lot,
where there is a fork in the road just before it goes up the canyon.
I pull my 800 Summit behind my AWD toyota van.
Sooo,,,I cant really climb up to much vertical.

Also,,,

I am a snowkiter..
That is my main reason for getting my sled,
(all though I really enjoy moderate boondocking)
Any suggestions on some open areas to get wind, and powder?

Here are a couple of videos to show you what I',m talking about...

Nice Kite sking!

When there is enough snow you can park at the bottom of Farmington canyon and ride up from there.

If not you can park at the first switchback where the pavement ends.

If not the next real parking spot is Sunset and it is about 2 miles from the gates.

The final Parking is at the gates. Depending on how careful and thoughtful people are you can park 8-10 rigs at the gates.

There is a lot of area up Farmington - You can go North or South and once you get as feel for it You will probably find some places you really like up there.

SNOW HOGGS! Why do the ugliest Mtn's get the most snow?....I guess I better ride the area before I pass out judgment, Boondockers sure makes this place look pretty fun, be safe everyone.

Anyone up for some testing up farmington this afternoon or tom Afternoon. The sled will be done today just have to put the clutch together mount the motor and cross my fingers for the rest of the season.

Just got back from Farmington!! Waist deep powder!! Over the hood powder!!

Came down throught the trees to the ponds and had a pile of snow ahead of me like a VW Bug.

If there was a five foot base or so it would have been in the top five days I have ever seen but without a base and knowing there are rocks everywhere, we were pretty careful.

Hope to get some pictures up soon.

Keep praying for snow!!
