Fairview Shoot out

Lots of fresh today, but you are right. It would only take a couple weeks fo warm weather to kill it all.

Yep, April 3 (with tuning day on April 2)

That is if there is any snow still left up there. :(

If it doesn't snow the rest of the year, you can count on it snowing during the Fairview shootout! :face-icon-small-hap

Even with the crappy weather every year, the shootout is always a good time.

what is this shoot out all about?

its an event where sleds plan to race up a big hill.....but it never happens, bad weather tends to force the hill humpers to the bunny hill runway at the parking lot:face-icon-small-sho:face-icon-small-ton

but, last year was sick, stupid dumb deep POW below the parking lot in any direction:face-icon-small-hap

I heard radburndownski30 and bigpissflaphoe are both coming to beat up on CCpowder...

When I was in race bowl 2 weeks ago there wasn't close to enough snow!! Lots of bushes and land mines still sticking out

Who???? I may be going to Yamafest this year...BTW Who is Bigpissflaphoe?

But if I do decide to come down make sure you bring the tank. I hear RKT is going to beat up on some pump gas turbo's with his 860 this year...

I have done some research and according to the Mammoth Cottonwood Snotel site, here are the percentages of snowfall for the last 10 years. Now this is measureable precipitation so it could have still been cloudy but who knows.
March 30th it has snowed 8 out of the last 10 years 80% chance
March 31st it has snowed 0 out of the last 10 years 0% chance
April 1st it has snowed 6 out of the last 10 years 60% chance
April 2nd it has snowed 5 out of the last 10 years 50% chance
April 3rd it has snowed 1 out of the last 10 years 10% chance

So if history is any indication maybe we will get some good snow March 30th and April 1st and then be good weather for at least Saturday. :face-icon-small-hap

Plenty of snow down there now with more to come. I was down there Friday, Seeley Canyon was epic.

Anybody going to the Shoot-out should be aware that large tracts of land are now closed to motorized winter travel.:mad2:

Actively protest the closure of public lands in the Boulger Canyon and Cleveland Reservior areas by refusing to purchase anything from any store, shop, motel, restaurant, gas station, road side vendor, or internet retailer, etc. located in Sanpete County.

Maybe the savants at the county tourism office will get the hint that snowmobilers = $$$$$. Open and equal access is all we ask for.

I am curious, do the boarders, skiers, kiters, shoers, and other non-motorized winter recreation enthusiasts pay any registration fees or property taxes on their equipment (trucks, trailers, snowmobiles)? And what portion of what they pay (which, by the way is $0.00) goes toward trail maintenance, SAR, rider education programs, and enforcement? Let the Sanpete County Commissioners see how the grunge element will respond to fill their revenue coffers. I'm willing to bet that the grunge doesn't spend even 5% of what snowmobilers do at Sanpete County businesses.

Boycott everything Sanpete for the rest of 2010 - Don't purchase anything from their stores, shops, gas stations, restaurants, internet retailers; don't go to the Manti Pagent, don't buy Norbest Turkeys, or Utah wool, lamb, or anything else even remotely associated with Sanpete County.

Good luck with your little ploy to increase local tourism you idiots!

Do you really think this is Sanpete county that is blocking access to the NATIONAL FOREST? NO! This is another example of the Federal government and has nothing to do with SANPETE COUNTY!

Who's in charge of the closure? Who do we contact to make our feelings known? I have a hard time believing that these areas would even be on the Federal Gov't's radar without some skiiers or kiteboarders stiring the poop.

To top that off, it would appear they got it wrong and closed the wrong area. I've been riding down there for the past 10 years, at least 6 times per year, and have never seen anyone other than snowmobilers in Boulger. The kiteboarders are always east of Skyline and south of HWY 31. Have yet to see a boarder north of 31 or down in Boulger.

Another question, what are they doing to enforce this?

Ignorance like this is why the greenies are winning the battles against the snowmobilers! Go educate yourself on how the government works and WHO actually makes the decisions before you start making flippant and ignorant comments like this one.

:face-icon-small-sho That's a very misleading statement, the closed areas are not large at all, probably more like, less than a tenth, of one percent of the skyline riding area,
but you do notice the closed area because its so close to the parking lot.

Will the T-Rex return from the dead for the shoot out???? Would love to see that thing go again.

Get on board, write the Forest Service and e-mail your federal & state reps & make your feelings known to those who can do something about it.
