Going under the laser tmorrow. 14 years of glasses hopefully comes to an abrubt end. How many have had negative results from laser surgery?
Lasik MD in Vancouver is doing mine. About $1200 an eye.

Wish me luck!

Wore contacts/glasses for 20+ years. The only regret you'll have is you didn't do it sooner.

I hardly ever wore shades before getting Lasic done, now I have to. Not only are my eyes better, I look cooler. :D

Do it!

Same as above. You will be sooooo happy. But $1200 an eye? It's gone up a bit then. I had mine done I think in 2000 and it was right at $1000 for everything. Pre Op, surgery and post op. Spent 2 nights in Vancouver. Had Dr. Hugo Sutton do mine. I think he moved to Surrey now. he came highly recomended from people I knew that had theirs done by him. I had no issues other than sensitive eyes for a while, which is par for the course.

My wife and I had the spendy top of the line custom lasik done last November and it worked great. I am 63 and have perfect distance vision now and can even read a book when I have decent light. I would say about 95 % of the time I don' need the 1.25 cheaters to read. We checked out 3 or 4 places and picked what we felt was the best, also the most expensive, about $3000 for each of us. We also have the life time free do over which added a bit to the cost included in that $3 grand.

Down side you will likely have to use eye drops for a month or two on a very regular basis for dry eyes but it does taper off after that a bunch. Hardly use them at all now.

Spooky part is how fast the whole process is. Maybe a couple minutes, 5 minutes tops.

Good Luck

don't sweat it reeb it is fast and painless I had mine done in Kelowna so I could rest at home no regrets

The only negative thing that came from getting mine done is now my eyes are more sensitive to light. Just means I wear my sunglasses more often so its not a big deal at all. So far its the best money I have ever spent.

I go under the knife next wednesday.
After 38 years of glasses.
The doc told me I needed Bi-focal lenses, I called and made an appointment the next day to see about Lasik.

I am getting the new and fancy lasik done.
The standard was about 900 an eye, the new generation laser and eye maping system (no night time halo effect). Cost is a LOT more at 1600 an eye, but I can't wait.

I had it done 8 years ago still great vision:D

Take it easy for a week after. a friend of mine had it done and got sawdust in his eye got an infection and almost lost vision in one eye. but that was stupidity.

you'll love it, eyes will be real sensitive to light for a while so those oakleys will come in handy
good luck

Yeah there's a standard lasik, and a zyoptics versions(i think that's what they called it. haha)
Going that route. If I'm gonna shell out the dough, might as well get it done properly. LasikMD downtown VCR is where I'm getting mine done. Actually where I'm writing this from right now. Just waiting now.

Just had mine done in December. Custom Lasik (bladeless). Worth every penny. I had halo effect in my right eye for about a month after, but im good now.

As others have said, much more sensitive to light. I have to wear dark lens on the snow now...

One last advice i have is take some eye drops sledding with you. I found they dry out quicker in the goggles, so make sure you keep em lubed up! ;)

You will love it!
I did it 10 years ago in Saskatoon at Horizon it took 30 seconds in one eye and 31 seconds in other. I had a awsome experiance with it all. I drove myself to my next day appointment. Worst thing about it is what you put yourself through thinking to much. Like everyone I know that had it done you find yourself always checking your eyesight for like the first 6 months comparing to other people etc. I just got eye check up its been like 5 years since my last test and I have 20/20 in one eye and 20/15 in the other Awsome. Any better it would be exray vision. Did all it improve the quallity time riding the sled. Brings back memories of riding in Saskatchewan in -30c with the visor open to keep glasses from fogging. And using duct tape to tape around top of No-fog to nose and cheaks just under eyes. Go home when your done and go to sleep as long as you can.

Got mine done 3 years ago now, best money I could have ever spent. I will never miss the days of my glasses fogging when walking in the house on a cold day or having to take them on and off with the helmet. Good Luck!

Had mine done about 2 years ago now. It is awesome. I also have one negative side effect and it is the brightness of light. Not much of a problem is you can afford a pair of sunglasses. Small price to pay for such an awesome procedure. I did have halos during the healing process but they are gone now.

You will wonder why it took you so long. I did and appears many post above have as well.

DO NOT RUB YOUR EYS!!!!

If they are itchy or burning use the drops they give you (or what they recomend).

I did mine in Jan 2000 and love it. My eyes were already a bit sensitive to bright light and the lazer surgery seemed to agravate it a bit. I still have a very slight halo around light at night but I am so use to it I don't think about it any more.

If I may be obvious, everybody seems to react a bit differenet

And did I mention DON"T RUB YOUR EYES!!

Lasik

Had mine done over a year ago. Best 3gs I have ever spent. My eyes were sensitive after the procedure but seem to be great now. Just had a check up on tuesday and was at 20/15, kinda scary the things I can see now. Good luck:eek:

Holy crow, worst part was trying to keep my eyes from flinching.........and they said no snowest. Real short visit. Been sleeping for about 5hrs now. Wow what a difference already, and my eyes are still watery from the drops. Can't wait to try em out over the next few days. I'm Pumped, too bad it was the same time as the Big Iron.

Downside, I couldn;t make my bank appt and had to hold off on getting some shades for tday......eyes are too damn watery. Tmorrow!
