Extreme Downhill Slope Riding Technique

If the snow is deep enough to keep me from the top, comming down is no problem. (Love to carve on the way down) Its when I'm on steep hero snow with obstacals that comming down gets my attention. Stop at the top and put em on. I use large diameter rope tied in a circle for ski brakes. Put 1 on each ski, slows ya down but not too much.

I would agree with the hero snow stuff, paying attention to your runout line before you climb is key. Most of the big stuff I climb there isn't any stopping at the top you have to immediately head down. Biggest thing is keep the clutch engaged and ride it if you are doing 60 down hill don't let it freak you out, if you were going 60 on the flat it wouldn't be a problem its all a state of mind. Although I must admit at 60 through avy debris dodging VW sized rocks can get interesting to say the least.

Is there any tricks for the 800R for engine braking? Mine really sucks in comparison to my 2005.

Get one of Dynamo Joes Clutch kit... Best kit I've ever owned AND it had the absolute best engine braking I've ever seen on REV

On a Medium pull it is okay to brake one way or another. If it is a large and steep pull, there is noway the situation gives me time the stop and put on any type of ski brake. Examine the decent prior to climbing. If the line has to be changed while on the way down, the only friend is the throttle. IMO
